America and Americans made Nike the global powerhouse it is today. But Nike does not believe in American history. They believe in the “woke” sentiment of racist spokesman Colin Kaepernick, a man whose only claim to fame after failing at a promising NFL career is that he hates America. But Nike loves him, so their choice was clear. They pulled the Betsy Ross flag from their apparel at his request.
But some patriots aren’t taking the news sitting down. Arizona Governor Doug Ducey is going after Nike by pulling incentives for them to put a plant in his state. He announced his intentions in an epic Twitter thread:
“Nike has made its decision, and now we’re making ours. I’ve ordered the Arizona Commerce Authority to withdraw all financial incentive dollars under their discretion that the State was providing for the company to locate here.”
Today was supposed to be a good day in Arizona, with the announcement of a major @Nike investment in Goodyear, AZ. THREAD—>

Words cannot express my disappointment at this terrible decision. I am embarrassed for Nike. 3/

Instead of celebrating American history the week of our nation’s independence, Nike has apparently decided that Betsy Ross is unworthy, and has bowed to the current onslaught of political correctness and historical revisionism. 5/

And finally, it shouldn’t take a controversy over a shoe for our kids to know who Betsy Ross is. A founding mother. Her story should be taught in all American schools. In the meantime, it’s worth googling her. 9/9

Reactions to Ducey’s decision were mixed on Twitter. It seems there has been an odd attachment between Kaepernick’s antics and President Trump. But Kaepernick’s anti-American sentiment started before Trump was President, so their misplaced reasoning for supporting the decision to disregard a piece of American history is silly.
Nike’s success is based on American consumers liking the brand, not the anti-American activism of Colin Kaepernick. It’s time for Americans to remind Nike where they started and whose money they desire. This American won’t be buying them anymore.
