America cannot afford another healthcare bill that gets passed before anybody reads it. Thankfully, even the surface-level facts about Medicare-for-All are so troubling to Americans, nearly two-thirds of us instantly rebuke it when we hear about it.
The number is likely higher than that, though, since people surveyed would have had to go back on their previous answer and acknowledge their ignorance. If they’d been told what Medicare-for-All was before being asked if they support it, the number of rebukes would skyrocket.
That’s the biggest takeaway from a recent Kaiser Family Foundation poll that went beyond the basic question. People were asked if they support Medicare-for-All, revealing a whopping 56% favor it. But when they were told what’s actually entailed in the plans for Medicare-for-All, their tune changed.
According to the Washington Post:
When the same people were told that a Medicare-for-all plan would raise taxes and eliminate private health insurance, support fell to 37 percent. Most people surveyed under the age of 65 with private health insurance falsely believed they would keep their coverage under the proposal.
It’s important that conservatives alert the masses that Medicare-for-All literally means FOR ALL. Most Americans simply don’t realize that if it becomes law, 150 million Americans will be forced to cancel whatever insurance plan they have today and replace it with one run wholly and dysfunctionally by the United States government.
If you would like a sneak peek at what that looks like, go hang out at the DMV for a few hours. That’s not an exaggeration or a scare tactic. That is literally what will happen to our healthcare system, only the wait times will likely be much longer. This is why in every country being touted by radical progressives as a wonderful example of government-run healthcare, the people are dissatisfied with their quality of care. Many private insurance companies are making a comeback in these countries as people would rather pay double – the higher taxes and the private insurance costs – rather than suffer through the system that is clearly broken.
But in America, it would be worse. Not only do we have more people than the other nations, but the current proposal would PROHIBIT the use of private insurance for anything other than cosmetic surgeries.
This cannot be an ignorance-driven election. The American people must be made to understand exactly what they’re voting for when they support candidates who promote Medicare-for-All or any of the terrifying Democratic proposals.
