Did Kevin McAleenan really sabotage the Presidents plans for an ICE crackdown

In a shocking turn of events, acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan has been accused by five current and former administration officials of sabotaging the planned crackdown on illegal immigrants with deportation orders by leaking the cities and timing of the operation to the Washington Post. Washington Examiner’s Anna Giaritelli reported the statements speculating the duplicity committed by the very man charged with getting a handle on the tremendous illegal immigration crisis plaguing our nation.

Opinion

Until this point, I had seen McAleenan as a strong leader to guide Homeland Security, including ICE and CBP, in the direction they need to go in order to keep Americans safe. The call from the President to start executing on deportation orders was the first positive sign coming from DC regarding the illegal immigration crisis in a while. Now, we’re back to the drawing board.

It confused me when the President decided to call off the raids in order to give Congress time make a deal. They’ve had plenty of time, and until this report I thought Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi must have offered the President some real incentive to delay the raids. Now, we’re in a worse situation than we were in last week as ICE will not be acting soon and Congress continues to demonstrate an unwillingness to solve this problem.

Deportations are a matter of sovereignty. It’s the responsibility of the executive branch to enforce the laws, including immigration laws that are being breached by thousands of illegal aliens daily. Handing out deportation orders without actually enforcing them is useless. We might as well just hand them a signed picture of Mitt Romney with a message on the back telling them to self-deport.

The President must surround himself with people who are willing to do what it takes to fix this and other problems. McAleenan seemed like one such person. If this report is true, he’s clearly not the right person for the job.

“Leaking the locations and details to stop the operation from happening not only harmed operational integrity, but it put the safety and well-being of his own officers in jeopardy.” – Anonymous White House Official

Final Thoughts

This really came out of left field. McAleenan has built a reputation of being one of the good guys, but this action is something that does not align with the goals of the White House, the will of the people, or the safety of America.

White House to change Flores Agreement, allowing longer detention of asylum seekers: Report

White House to change Flores Agreement allowing longer detention of asylum seekers Report

The Flores Agreement has been arguably the biggest draw for asylum-seeking migrants who have created the border crisis in recent months. In the agreement, children may not be held in migrant facilities for longer than 20 days, which gives families a quick release into the United States interior as well as, in most cases, work permits.

According to a report by One America News correspondent Ryan James Girdusky, the White House will be unveiling changes Wednesday or Thursday this week. These changes will allow for longer detention of family units. This is important because asylum hearings never happen within the 20-day Flores period, forcing asylum seekers to be released before their claims are adjudicated. With 90% of asylum seekers not showing up for their hearings after they’re released, according to acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan, children have become essentially a free ticket to the United States interior.

Enacted in 1997 as an agreement to deal with the repercussions of a 1987 case, Flores v. Reno, it has been used as the standard by which illegal immigrants family units and unaccompanied minors are to be treated while in border patrol custody. It was intended as a humanitarian control to ensure children crossing the border illegally had proper facilities and care. Moreover, it established the protocols required to seek out the nearest relatives with which to place unaccompanied children.

In theory, the agreement was properly conceived and administered. But with the influx of migrants since last year who are conspicuously armed with knowledge of loopholes to help them circumvent our laws, calls have been made by conservative groups to reexamine the Flores Agreement. It was never meant to be the release loophole it has been turned into today. It was intended to protect children, but today it is putting them in more jeopardy as they’re being used as “tickets” for entry and release. Many are being “rented” or even sold to people in a “marketplace of children” at the border.

MS-13, the notorious transnational gang spreading extreme heinous violence across North and South America, is conspicuous in their use of children because of the current state of the Flores agreement.

MS-13 is spreading the word for members to cross the border with fake family units

Now that word is being spread for MS-13 gang members to grab kids and use them to cross the border, the left’s policies are being used to harm innocent children in Central America. The “compassion” of the left is doing so much harm to everyone involved… everyone other than the gang members they are graciously supporting with their policies.

Changing the Flores Agreement will have an immediate and substantial impact on the border crisis. Illegal immigrants will no longer be able to use children as “tickets” to get released into the interior. This is a spectacular move by the White House.

‘Sanctuary Sheriff’ Garry McFadden released convicted child molester Oscar Leonardo to protect him from ICE

Sanctuary Sheriff Garry McFadden released convicted child molester Oscar Leonardo to protect him fro

At some point, Democrats have to come to the conclusion that their little experiment with sanctuary cities has failed. It was supposed to encourage cooperation with the Hispanic community so they’d be more willing to report crimes knowing the people they were reporting won’t be deported. But instead, crime has risen in nearly every sanctuary jurisdiction while cooperation between the communities and law enforcement haven’t gotten any better.

But instead of learning lessons, Democrats are doubling down. One such Democrat is Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden. Known as the “Sanctuary Sheriff” for lording over his county with anti-ICE policies that went against the will of the people, the buddy of Barack Obama has been at the center of controversy for over a year. Now, he’s being questioned about one illegal alien his policy had released, a previously deported convicted child molester who took two additional months for ICE to capture.

“They know if they’re arrested, they’re not gonna be handed over to ICE,” ICE spokesman Bryan Cox said.

Oscar Leonardo sexually assaulted at least one child in McFadden’s district before being granted release. An ICE detainer was in place, which the sheriff’s office ignored. But McFadden doubled down on his policy by saying ICE should have sent an arrest warrant instead of a detainer. Either McFadden is ignorant of the law he’s supposed to uphold or he’s lying for the sake of misdirection as ICE is incapable of issuing warrants. That’s solely done by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Sanctuary jurisdictions choose to ignore detainers, and despite their claims that this makes the community safer, there are numerous instances where they clearly made the community less safe. This instance is one of them, but ICE was able to recapture him after wasting two months and countless man-ours. They could have simply picked him up and deported him had McFadden cooperated with ICE. Instead, he chose to put more children at risk by protecting a child molester.

As long as Democrats like Garry McFadden continue to protect child molesters like Oscar Leonardo instead of the American citizens they’re charged to protect, they should not be given a single vote. If they won’t do their jobs, replace them.

Why E-Verify didn’t work at poultry plants in Mississippi and how to fix it

Why E-Verify didnt work at poultry plants in Mississippi and how to fix it

Many conservatives (myself included at one point) believe E-Verify is the silver bullet in protecting jobs from being taken by illegal immigrants. Some states, including Mississippi, mandate its use for new hires. But as the ICE raids on poultry plants in Mississippi demonstrated, the system isn’t being used 100% of the time as mandated and when it’s used, it doesn’t always work.

There are loopholes illegal immigrants can use to circumvent the system. It doesn’t check on the legality of an individual, only whether or not their paperwork is acceptable. But if that paperwork is being shared or was taken from someone else, including the deceased, then the system won’t flag them. It should.

The reason 680 people were apprehended in a single day last week is because the E-Verify system isn’t foolproof and isn’t being used 100% of the time. This needs to be fixed immediately.

According to the Washington Post:

In Mississippi, the companies — Koch Foods, Peco Foods, PH Food, A&B and Pearl River Foods — intentionally hired Guatemalan and Mexican immigrants who are not authorized to work in the United States “for the purpose of commercial advantage or private financial gain,” according to search-warrant affidavits unsealed in federal court after the Aug. 7 raids.

Investigators allege that numerous employees at Pearl River Foods had submitted stolen names and Social Security numbers, including those belonging to the deceased.

At times, companies did not appear to have made an effort to check certain workers’ information in the online E-Verify system, according to the affidavits.

How to fix it

There are many things that need to be revamped in order for E-Verify to work properly. First and foremost, it needs to be updated through cross-referencing other databases, most notably whatever database the IRS uses to determine that someone is deceased. If the data is inaccurate or dated, it presents an opening for illegal immigrants to exploit.

Second, the laws need to be enforced. If a state mandates the use of E-Verify, then businesses caught not using it should be punished. Right now, that’s just not happening. They’re not even getting a slap on the wrist in most cases. If they’re caught like the poultry plants in Mississippi, then they should be placed on a watch list and progressively punished for their lack of compliance through increasing fines and risk of losing state business licenses.

But the most important change must be in the way the system is used. We have technology available to flag irregularities. If a person’s documents are being used repeatedly at multiple locations in a short time, that should prompt law enforcement to investigate. Chances are good they’ll be able to identify and apprehend illegal immigrants up until the point word gets out their scam is no longer working.

The promise of employment is the key driving force behind the massive migrant problem that’s causing our border crisis. Take away the jobs and many migrants will stop coming. We have the tools. Let’s use them.
