First poll since Amash attacked the President has primary challenger Jim Lower with huge lead

First poll since Amash attacked the President has primary challenger Jim Lower with huge lead

Speculation that Representative Justin Amash (R-MI) may run for president as a Libertarian would seem to be aided by results of a recent poll. If the numbers hold up, State Representative Jim Lower could boot Amash out of his seat in the House during the GOP primary.

The poll by Lansing-based Practical Political Consulting shows Lower up by 16%.

Amash came under fire after siding with Democrats and calling for President Trump’s impeachment following the release of the Mueller report. He has since enjoyed a lot of support from Libertarians and NeverTrump Republicans, but has been attacked by much of the GOP. Yesterday, he left the House Freedom Caucus.

Lower expressed contentment in Twitter following the release of the poll:

There are four options for Amash:

  1. Keep going and try to win the primary
  2. Leave Congress and run for president
  3. Run for Congress as a Libertarian
  4. Move to the private sector

It’s still far too early in election season for Amash to be too concerned, but it’s telling that he’s down by so many points. He may just run for president in order to save face instead of losing to Lower.

Trump hits ‘nut job’ Anthony Scaramucci

Trump hits nut job Anthony Scaramucci

Anthony “Mooch” Scaramucci has been on a tear in recent days, coming out as a firm anti-Trump commentator on progressive news channels and spreading whatever vitriol he can must against his former boss. In case you don’t remember him, he was White House Director of Communications for 11 days before being fired.

His vocal tirades have been embraced by progressive media as well as Never Trumpers since he’s technically a former White House insider. But he’s the flavor of the week as his rhetoric will soon grow tiresome even to his fellow Trump haters. He’s abrasive and not the most likable guy, so they’ll discard him faster than they did Omarosa Manigault.

President Trump hasn’t taken kindly to the man who he offered a real opportunity to for a brief period before realizing he wasn’t the best fit for the job or as a member of the administration.

Somewhere in Scaramucci’s twisted mind, he believes all the sudden press he’s getting is going to benefit him. He thinks he’s a hero, as narcissists often do. But as this wears on, he’s going to find his revitalized fame is temporary.

Do Omar, Tlaib oppose LGBTQ rights like the Palestinian Authority?

Do Omar Tlaib oppose LGBTQ rights like the Palestinian Authority

Representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib want Israel to be boycotted, divested, and sanctioned. They want the Democrats in the House of Representatives to take Congressional action against Israel. They want to drive a wedge between the United States and Israel. Most importantly, they want Israel to no longer exist, replaced by the Palestinian Authority and a “New Palestine.”

Do they also support the Palestinian Authority’s ban on LGBTQ activities? Do they agree with the anti-LGBTQ tenets of the Muslims organizations the Congresswomen support?

In a society in which the media handled things in an unbiased manner, these are questions the press would be asking Omar and Tlaib following the Palestinian Authority’s ban on LGBTQ activities in the West Bank, an area where Tlaib’s grandmother lives and where she petitioned to visit before declining to do so after Israel allowed it.

The press should ask them if they support the Palestinian Authority’s move against LBGTQ individuals:

Palestinian Authority bans LGBTQ activities in West Bank

The Palestinian Authority banned members of the Palestinian Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) community from carrying out any activities in the West Bank.

The ban came after the grassroots group Al-Qaws for Sexual & Gender Diversity in Palestinian Society (Arabic for “the bow”), which engages and supports Palestinians who identify as LGBTQ, was planning to hold a gathering for its members in Nablus at the end of the month. The group operates both in the West Bank and among Arab-Israelis.

Both Tlaib and Omar claim to be supportive of LGBTQ rights. But they also have a not-so-subtle attachment to the Palestinian Authority and are actively working to put them in control of all of Israel. Does that mean they would approve of their ban of LGBTQ individuals “from the river to the sea”?

While many in America’s LGBTQ community continue to support and often partner with Islamic groups to help their friends in the Democratic Party, others in the community have spoken out against the anti-LGBTQ policies Muslim majority nations impose on their people. This needs to be addressed by LGBTQ leaders; they can’t (or at least shouldn’t) ignore the plight of the international LGBTQ community for the sake of political expediency.

The Palestinian Authority’s ban on all LGBTQ activities in the West Bank should be a point of contention that Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib need to reconcile. But they won’t. Mainstream media will bury the story and nobody will ask them how they feel.

Joe Biden echoes false progressive claim that ballot box is ‘out of reach’

Joe Biden echoes false progressive claim that ballot box is out of reach

In rural areas of the country, voter groups send mail and emails to help people in remote areas know their options for voting. Most major cities have services for the elderly, poor, and disabled that offer to take people to the polls on election day. Private organizations do everything they can to make sure voters (particularly those most likely to support their particular cause or candidate) have a way to vote properly.

We do not have a shortage of ways that make certain those legally allowed to vote are never denied their right to participate in American government. This is why a Tweet by former Vice President Joe Biden is so peculiar. It’s demonstrably false in every detail as he compared the “problem” of voting access today to the passage of the 19th Amendment which literally empowered millions with the vote. But our EIC called him out on it.

Efforts by Democrats to make voting easier are not to help legal American voters. American citizens have no problem voting. Literally zero. Making voting easier is a Democratic strategy that allows voter fraud to flourish. Period.
