If you tell a lie often enough, it becomes the truth.
These words, often attributed in some form or fashion to various Nazis, is being proven as a reality today within the Democratic Party. The disease of socialistic thought has spread throughout the party, and while most Democratic voters are still hesitant to embrace all-out socialism, they’re more than willing to eat it piecemeal as long as it’s given a different name.
Whether they’re buying into “Democratic Socialism” or Medicare-for-All or the Green New Deal, they’re buying into a false pretense for socialistic principles that would destroy the nation if ever implemented.
As I posted today on Parler:
The biggest lie by the hyper-leftist branch of the Democratic Party is “Democratic Socialism.” It’s socialism no matter what qualifier you put in front of it, but many Democrats are buying into it like dieters who would eat at McDonald’s if they offered a “Healthy McRib Sandwich.”
Putting the word “healthy” in front of it doesn’t make it any less of a processed pork product shaped loosely like ribs and smothered in BBQ sauce. Such a sandwich isn’t any healthier than socialism given the “Democratic” moniker.
Both will eventually kill you, but socialism will work faster and will be universally debilitating to America.
Former Colorado governor John Hickenlooper is learning the hard way that the Democratic Party is lost. He has a common sense approach to governance that should be refreshing in the midst of so many hardcore socialists parading around the clown car of Democratic candidates, but instead his message is drawing boos and resentment. They don’t want to be told he truth that socialism hasn’t work and cannot work in a world that has human beings running it. They want to believe that somehow all of their problems are the result of rich people being greedy and keeping them down. The very notion of personal responsibility and achieving the American dream through hard word and patriotism has been lost to them. They’ve been Bernied. They’ve been AOCed. They’ve been sold the lie of socialism and, despite very clear evidence that progressive economic policies do not yield progress and destroy economies, are not willing to let go of the dream of a “fair” nation.
Instead, they boo at the truth:
Members of the audience began flashing their “Bernie 2020” signs as Hickenlooper attempted to win back the audience by pledging to take on the National Rifle Association. Another attendee flashed the former governor the middle finger.
Hickenlooper ended his remarks to more boos as he criticized “Medicare for all,” saying it would be improper to kick tens of millions of Americans off their employer-backed healthcare plans. Instead, Hickenlooper said he supports a public option as a compromise, then was forced to end his speech as music began playing.
It doesn’t help that Hickenlooper hasn’t really been successful at getting his message out to the masses. His ideas seem too similar to old Democrats, and those folks are represented by Joe Biden.
But the genie is out of the bottle. Socialism is “cool” or whatever word is used nowadays to represent something being accepted wholesale by a generation who haven’t the foggiest idea of how things actually work in the real world. Unfortunately, the old leaders in the party aren’t even looking at socialism as a threat, focused instead on their personal nemesis in the Oval Office. At this point, many Democrats would rather give socialism a try knowing it would fail but at least they wouldn’t have to keep chanting “orange man bad.”
This will end in one of two ways. If Establishment Democrats are able to get hold of their party and not nominate a socialist, they’ll buy a temporary reprieve for the party and possibly the nation. If the radical progressives get their way and get demolished in the 2020 elections, we might finally be able to put this beast to rest for a decade or so.
But, if they get their socialist nominee and somehow convince enough people socialism won’t destroy the country, then the country will be destroyed.
It’s time to stop just saying “socialism sucks” and start demonstrating to whatever lucid Democrats we can find that even piecemeal socialism is an existential threat to America. It’s so obvious, some might take it for granted.
