Generally speaking, left-leaning mainstream media outlets like Washington Post support progressive policies such as the pro-abortion doctrines of Planned Parenthood. The racially motivated death brokers who dominate the abortion industry have been given many passes over the years by the media, but sometimes their outrageously false claims cross a line beyond which even their media cheerleaders won’t follow them.
Such is the case with multiple claims by Dr. Leana Wen, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood. One iteration of the claim was made on March 6, 2019, in an interview with WFAA of Dallas.
“We face a real situation where Roe could be overturned. And we know what will happen, which is that women will die. Thousands of women died every year pre-Roe.” – Dr. Leana Wen
It’s a very powerful message. Pro-abortion activists can latch onto it and share it like a magic wand to promote “women’s rights.” In the 21st century, who wants to go back to the days when thousands of women were dying every year as a result of illegal abortions?
Fortunately, it’s false. It’s so far from the truth that WaPo gave it 4 Pinocchios, which is the equivalent of a blatant lie told willfully for the sake of promoting an agenda. The reason they rated it so harshly is because, well, it’s a blatant lie told willfully for the sake of promoting an agenda.
According to the statistics they were able to uncover, the number of deaths from illegal abortions the year before Roe v Wade was in the double-digits nationwide. What’s worse is that an expert who was vaunted by Planned Parenthood had already debunked the dubious claims decades ago.
Dr. Wen knows this, but “dozens” doesn’t have the same shock value as “thousands.”
The radical progressives who support Planned Parenthood will not be dissuaded from the murderous missions by anything, even the truth. As far as they’re concerned, WaPo is part of the vast right-wing conspiracy, the war on women. Yes, WaPo.
