17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
– Jude 1:17-18 (KJV)
Jude has always been one of the most puzzling books of the New Testament, particularly because it’s so short. Every verse is powerful. Few are very straightforward. It has a lot of condemnation in it and discusses fallen angels, Michael’s battles, and the book of Enoch. For obvious reasons, many mainstream churches avoid discussion about this enigmatic book.
These particular two verses are a turning point for the book. It condemns so many up until this point, but at these verses changes tone to give hope and warning for those who would listen.
Today, we’re seeing mockers filling the world more fervently than ever since the rise of the church. If we’re in the last times, we must do what we can to spread the Gospel to everyone we can.
