In the weeks following the release of the Mueller report, we pushed for an investigation of the investigators. The circumstances behind the investigation’s inception seemed sketchy at best and the end result of the Russian probe seemed to jibe with the notion the investigation should never have happened in the first place. Now, Attorney General William Barr wants to know why it happened.
He has assigned Connecticut U.S. Attorney John Durham to look into the origins of the investigation, especially in its early days before the 2016 election had even happened.
BREAKING: The AP reports that Attorney General William Barr has appointed a U.S. attorney to examine the origins of the Russia investigation and to determine if the FBI's surveillance of the Trump campaign was “lawful and appropriate.”

Durham rose to prominence in 1999 when Janet Reno assigned him to lead an investigation into the corruption of FBI handlers for James “Whitey” Bulger and Stephen “The Rifleman” Flemmi. Bulger’s tale has been the subject of movies, including Black Mass.
Recent revelations from a Freedom of Information Act release pointed to nefarious motivations by Christopher Steele, the originator of the infamous dossier that was commissioned by the DNC and Clinton campaign. We also learned that the FBI lied to get their FISA warrants on Trump adviser Carter Page.
All of the information that has been released to the public seems to point to political motivations driving most of the people involved, from the Clinton campaign and DNC to the FBI to President Obama’s Justice Department. It’s also conspicuous that Democrats continue to press for more investigations, subpoenas, contempt hearings, and anything else they can think of to keep the Russia investigation alive in the news cycle. Is it possible they’re simply trying to distract from the truth?
The tables seem to be turning. This investigation will not be a prolonged affair like the Mueller investigation. In the next few weeks, we should learn the depth of corruption from a group bent on stopping President Trump.
