I took a lot of heat back in March for an article I wrote criticizing the obvious change in direction by the “conservative” personalities at BlazeTV who have apparently abandoned conservatism to become little more than a pro-Trump echo chamber.
In that article, I mentioned an episode of a show hosted by one of BlazeTV’s well-known personalities who was making a case that Democrats were the party of abortion and that Trump’s recent late-term abortion rhetoric was reason enough for pro-life conservatives to support Trump in 2020.
In addition, the host stated that anyone who refused to “cheer” Trump’s use of the abortion issue as a political weapon was guilty of being a member of the “never-Trump cult” who only opposed him because “orange-man bad.”
In a “rebuttal” issued the day after my article, I was given the “orange-man bad” label by the show host, and the producer of the program dismissed me as someone with an “anonymous Twitter account” writing on a website. In other words, they offered no defense of BlazeTV’s newly developed love affair for all things Trump.
So, it came as no surprise to me when this same program praised Trump earlier this week for once again using the abortion issue at one of his recent rallies. Specifically, the host praised Trump for using graphic words to describe late-term abortion and the infanticide that takes place when a baby is left to die if he/she survives the attempted murder.
Amazingly, in a round-table discussion about Trump’s abortion comments, nearly everyone admitted that his words were merely an attempt to garner votes and that he most likely would do nothing to protect the unborn. However, it didn’t matter in the end because Trump is the lesser evil, and his lies should be ignored because he’s protecting life or something.
This obvious capitulation by BlazeTV reminds me of an article I wrote last year about how it isn’t the never-Trump or always-Trump groups responsible for destroying conservatism — it’s the vacillating middle I refer to as sometimes-Trump that’s really responsible. These cowards have accepted the lie that it’s okay to do a little evil in exchange for a greater good.
These dwellers of the mushy-middle suffer from political bi-polar disorder, where everything Trump does is measured using a Good Trump/Bad Trump barometer to ensure their self-preservation.
Trump is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways (James 1:8), and when lukewarm sometimes-Trump conservatives excuse his lies and broken promises, they water-down conservatism to the point where it’s powerless to change America.
So, the next time you hear one of these mediocre middle-of-the-road sometimes-Trump “conservatives” blame never-Trump or always-Trump for today’s conservative divide, remember that it’s these unenthusiastic, non-committed, indifferent, half-hearted, apathetic, uninterested, unconcerned, lackadaisical, passionless, laid-back, couldn’t-care-less conservative imposters who are really responsible.
