Netflix drew criticism last week when their show Our Planet by famed filmmaker David Attenborough included the gruesome deaths of several walruses who fell from a cliff into the rocky ground below. The graphic nature of the scene made for mild scolding by some, but it was generally considered a boon for viewership and for the climate change industry as Attenborough attributed their deaths to the lack of sea ice in the area.
But their narrative started falling apart very quickly as scientists and even environmentalists started scratching their heads about the claim. Questions were raised about the convenience of so many deaths occurring on camera that were allegedly caused by the climate change that has been affecting the region for decades. One would think if climate change was really the culprit, there would be thousands of bodies laying around based solely on the convenient frequency of deaths captured by the filmmakers in such a short period of time.
One theory that seems to hold water is that polar bears are to blame. Dr Susan Crawford noted a well documented incident on October, 2017, at Ryrkaypiy in northeast Russia when polar bears drove walruses from their perch atop the beach to their deaths below. Netflix refused to name the filming location and continued to change their story about the presence of polar bears in the area, but Andrew Montford was able to positively identify the scene location as Rykaypiy.
After denying there were polar bears in the area, the filmmakers then said they knew it couldn’t have been the polar bears because they had people watching them for the safety of the crew. Yes, they were watching the polar bears that the crew originally claimed were not there.
But a new theory is starting to take wings and makes a whole lot of sense. It was likely the filmmakers themselves who spooked the bears with their scent, activity, and drones flying overhead.
Horrifying update:
It's alleged that the Our Planet film crew's drones and presence caused the walrus stampede off the cliff as they are easily spooked. https://t.co/BtIaMDdLdk

Overhead planes, drones and other human disturbances should be kept to a minimum to avoid spooking the walruses … this should be well known. pic.twitter.com/5WPljgBOBv

Walruses are not activists. They didn’t wait until a film crew was on them before martyring themselves to save the planet. Climate change was not the culprit, but the film crew acknowledges they had eyes on the polar bears in the area, so they couldn’t be the culprits, either. That leaves the film crew itself and the drones they were using for filming as the only logical reason these beautiful creatures plunged to their deaths. As the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service notes, walruses are easily spooked by humans.
We’ve known for a while that leftists will do almost anything to promote their climate change agenda. Killing walruses for shock value, whether intentional or not, and blaming it on climate change is a new low.
