I did not think I would render a compliment so free of a hidden or overt jab towards a democratic candidate, but Andrew Yang has earned this clean compliment that I wish meant more. His guest appearance is the inspiration for me saying this. He sat down for an hour in the latest Ben Shapiro Sunday Special discussing the show’s most recurring topic of the IQ economy and his book. Andrew Yang was collected and thoughtful. I came away thinking he was a lot more center than Tucker Carlson who turned out to be a Roosevelt level progressive when he sat in the same seat.
Andrew Yang proposed a form of UBI which he called a dividend. Each citizen could opt into a program that would pay $1000 per month with no strings attached, but would forgo other social services. He then stated that this would be backed by taxes on tech that are driving the innovation towards this IQ economy. His proposal was well thought out and not bent on creating a socialist country down the road despite similarity to more socialist proposals. It’s a worthy policy discussion to be had because it seeks to tackle a major foreseeable problem, something Congress is unwilling to get around to, (cough Medicare and Social Security.) Even conservative economist are embracing UBI as an alternative to welfare.
If Andrew Yang were what constitutes far left, our country would be in much greater shape. I recommend giving this special a watch, along with several others.
