The Supreme Court declined to issue a stay on the bump stock ban issued by the White House last year. This doesn’t mean the fight is over, but it’s definitely going to be an uphill battle and a race against the clock to secure the rights of the estimated 500,000 bump stock owners in America.
OAN’s Liz Wheeler addressed it last night, calling this a direct attack against the 2nd Amendment. She’s absolutely right. This leaves the door open for the executive branch to essentially legislate, which obviously is against the Constitution. By changing the definition of what is considered a machine gun to include bump stocks, they’re making it easier for a future leftist administration to take the redefining of statutes further, eliminating the legislative branch from the equation.
As we noted when the order came down, this opens Pandora’s Box for gun control.
Gun Owners of America are continuing the fight. Just as we support OAN and Liz Wheeler’s reporting on the issue, we also support GOA’s efforts to reverse this unconstitutional and dangerous prelude to full-on gun confiscation.
