When Lucy Flores was running for Lt. Governor in Nevada in 2014, she received a nice boost from one of the most powerful men in the world. Vice President Joe Biden was going to fly out to Las Vegas to offer his support and endorsement to the 35-year-old Democrat. It was a big moment for the young politician.
Then, “Creepy Joe” did as Creepy Joe is wont to do. He allegedly invaded her personal space, touched her shoulders, smelled her hair, and kissed her on the back of the head.
I felt him get closer to me from behind. He leaned further in and inhaled my hair. I was mortified. I thought to myself, “I didn’t wash my hair today and the vice-president of the United States is smelling it. And also, what in the actual fuck? Why is the vice-president of the United States smelling my hair?” He proceeded to plant a big slow kiss on the back of my head. My brain couldn’t process what was happening. I was embarrassed. I was shocked. I was confused. There is a Spanish saying, “tragame tierra,” it means, “earth, swallow me whole.” I couldn’t move and I couldn’t say anything. I wanted nothing more than to get Biden away from me. My name was called and I was never happier to get on stage in front of an audience.
Her tail is one for our age, a time when women can finally speak out about things that were recently considered no big deal. Yes, it’s a big deal that a man who is not even an acquaintance gets too close or touches you. It’s a big deal when a man in power kisses you, even on the back of the head. The boundaries may not be properly defined yet, but they’re getting there. And what Joe Biden allegedly did was not something that should be taken lightly, even five years ago before the whole #MeToo movement began.
The only issue with this whole article is that it’s on a women’s magazine that has a clear distaste for Biden. I would really love to have seen it on the NY Times or some other leftist publication that has not outwardly gone against the person in question. Even before this piece, there have been numerous articles on The Cut that oppose Biden running.
But that’s really not a big deal. Perhaps she just likes the publication and wanted to contribute to it.
Most who are paying attention have known for years that Joe Biden’s inappropriate way of handling women and even young girls is awkward. Now that he’s probably running for President, we can expect the left to be more vocal about their concerns.
Will you help revive the American Conservative Movement?
