While so much time and energy and political capital is being spent focusing on the border between the United States and Mexico, everybody seems to have forgotten our northern border with Canada.
On February 25, in my article for NOQ Report entitled “Things to consider about the border wall,” I stated:
“The Mexican border is only one conduit of illegal aliens into the USA. It’s beyond our scope here to look at the much, much longer Canadian border which has been very vulnerable to penetration in the past including via the Great Lakes. Not even considering the border between Alaska and Canada.”
Now the time has come to look north as well as south. The United States border with Mexico is 1,954 miles from the Pacific coast of California to the Gulf Coast of Texas. The Canadian border from the Pacific coast of Washington State to the Atlantic coast of Maine is 3,987 miles. Then there is 1,538 miles of border between Alaska and Canada. That’s a total length of 5,525 miles.
The Mexican border includes big cities, cacti and rattlesnakes in the desert, and the Rio Grande River. The Canadian border includes mountains, prairies, lakes, forests and tundra. On both borders, the terrain can be very inhospitable. But there’s a lot more snow and ice up north.
Just today, news reports are that the Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection has been providing Congress with data and statistics about how overwhelmed CBP is with the influx of illegal aliens on the southern border. The reason we also need to look north to Canada is that when CBP has to augment resources on the Mexican border, they will have to be reallocated from somewhere else.
CBP has three basic types of Ports of Entry. There are the landborder ports with Mexico and Canada. There are also international airports and seaports.
CBP Officers are being taken from southern Ports of Entry to assist the Border Patrol ~ which handles everything between POEs ~ in caring for those who are detained. This can mean closure of vehicle lanes. It will mean longer wait times for people coming in by vehicle or on foot legally. It will also delay commercial goods coming in by truck or by rail.
But most importantly, it will strain enforcement posture in the Ports of Entry not only against illegal aliens but also for interdiction of drugs and other contraband. Whether or not CBP Officers are sent to temporary duties to backfill at POEs on the Mexican border, the attention of the agency executive leadership and the finite resources will be focused on that southwest border.
All of this needs to be dropped in the lap of the United States Congress, both Senate and House of Representatives. The prima donnas on Capitol Hill need to get out of their ivory towers and face reality.
One of the most despicable denizens of Washington DC is the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Adam Schiff from beautiful downtown Burbank, California. In a position that needs bipartisanship to the nth degree to face national security issues of concern to all Americans, Congressman Schiff chooses instead to spew his hatred toward President Trump and hinder all efforts to secure our borders.
I know that’s a lot of background, but many of you may say why worry about Canada? Why now? Why ever?
Does anybody still remember the attempted Millennial Bomber? This could be another complete article by itself. Suffice it here to say that a Muslim terrorist attempted unsuccessfully to enter the United States in December 1999 via a car ferry from Victoria, BC to Port Angeles, Washington on the scenic Olympic Peninsula. He mistakenly assumed it would be a weak point enforcement wise.
After the terrorist attacks of 9-11-2001, U.S. Customs Inspectors were sent to augment security on the Canadian border. Whoever made that decision at the highest level obviously had reason to believe that additional threats could be coming from that direction.
Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has made a total farce of Canada’s immigration system. Members of the Canadian Parliament are dealing with a leader who does not appreciate the necessity of national security. I have no interest in the internal politics of our friends up north. But it does make Canada a magnet for people who would like to enter the United States from there.
But just how easy is it for someone to cross the border from Canada to our own country? For many years, this border was touted as the longest unfortified national boundary in the world between two friendly neighbors.
Indeed, all things considered, Canada has been and remains a good neighbor despite politicians who come and go both here and there with differing priorities. Former PM Stephen Harper was a true leader of the western world while Barack Obama was running rampant down here. But the pendulum has swung and Canada has gone liberal.
There are actually towns that straddle the border between Canada and the United States. There are even buildings that are partly in both countries.
The first picture below is of the border just east of Lynden Washington.
The next satellite shot is of Akwesasne Mohawk Reservation which is on the border between New York State and the Province of Quebec. Native Americans or First Nations as they’re called in Canada can easily move freely on their own land despite the border. That, of course, is not a problem.
But there have been open source reports over the years of people from the Middle East and around the world showing up in that area. Those who want to enter the United States for nefarious purposes will always look for the path of least resistance.
Four of the five Great Lakes are shared between the United States and Canada. Only Lake Michigan is entirely within the USA. But the international boundary runs in the waters of Lakes Superior, Huron, Erie and Ontario. There have been efforts for decades to monitor those who take small vessels across from Canada into this country. Right now, with what’s happening on the Mexican border, that situation on the Great Lakes is probably near the bottom of everybody’s in-basket. Or, of course, nowhere near their in-basket.
A visible line of 1,349 miles runs through forested borderlands caused by a slashing of trees between the two countries as a demarcation of the boundary between the United States and Canada. There is no wall to deter border crossers.
The Mexican border is important because hordes of people are trying to overwhelm resources and come into the United States illegally. Among the majority coming for economic reasons, there are absolutely Islamic terrorists and others of mal-intent who penetrate the caravans. It has long been a priority to intercept Other Than Mexicans [OTM] who are sneaking in to do us harm.
That’s why it’s so crucial to get the southwest border under control ~ because it is taking resources and attention away from other vulnerable entry points. A terrorist intent on detonating a Weapon of Mass Destruction in New York City would have an exponentially greater chance of success if transiting through Canada while politicians, media and the general public have frozen their gaze on Mexico.
A report on March 9, 2019 by NBC News confirms a spike in attempted illegal border crossings from Canada into the United States. That, of course, is only the ones who got caught and that we therefore know about.
So, a word to the wise, if there be any still left in our nation’s capital. The large numbers of illegal aliens are coming over the Mexican border. But don’t be misled. Be it via Ports of Entry or in between, the really evil ones who wish to do us harm will be coming through Canada!
Will you help revive the American Conservative Movement?

They’re Trying to Shut Us Down
Over the last several months, I’ve lost count of how many times the powers-that-be have tried to shut us down. They’ve sent hackers at us, forcing us to take extreme measures on web security. They sent attorneys after us, but thankfully we’re not easily intimidated by baseless accusations or threats. They’ve even gone so far as to make physical threats. Those can actually be a bit worrisome but Remington has me covered.
For us to continue to deliver the truth that Americans need to read and hear, we ask you, our amazing audience, for financial assistance. We have a Giving Fuel page to help us pay the bills. It’s brand new so don’t be discouraged by the lack of donations there. It’s a funny reality that the fewer the donations that have been made, the less likely people are willing to donate to it. One would think this is counterintuitive, but sometimes people are skeptical because they think that perhaps there’s a reason others haven’t been donating. In our situation, we’re just getting started so please don’t be shy if you have the means to help.
Thank you and God bless!
