If you could pay to 16 charges dropped against you, would you do it? If that amount happened to be $130,106.15, would you be able to do so “in a timely manner” as the city of Chicago ordered Jussie Smollett to do? Some can, some can’t. Those who could not would have had to face the charges and possible jail time, according to the letter sent to Smollett by the city.
BREAKING: The letter that the city of Chicago sent to Jussie Smollett demands he pays $130,106.15.
It also states: "If the amount is not timely paid, the Department of Law may prosecute you for making a false statement to the City" pic.twitter.com/EHO4wKUST5

As we noted before, he literally paid to have his charges dropped. We just didn’t know how much.
But he didn’t buy his way out completely if reports of an Obama intervention are true.
And, of course, there’s the whole matter of whether or not the FBI will launch their own investigation into the circumstances surrounding his dropped charges.
The Jussie Smollet saga isn’t over yet. But we’re still annoyed by the fact that it’s even a story right now.
If a regular citizen who isn’t friends with a powerful politician did what Jussie Smollett did, there would be no quarter given. But he’s rich and he has powerful friends. Thus, he’s a free man. This should make every “normal” American sick.
