Donald Trump and Ivanka introduce Common Core for college

Using the high cost of a college education as cover, Donald Trump and senior advisor/daughter Ivanka released the Proposals to Reform the Higher Education Act. As is always the case whenever Washington uses the word “reform,” the result will be bigger government, more spending, and less liberty.

“We need to modernize our higher education system to make it affordable, flexible, and more outcome oriented so that all Americans, young and old, can learn the skills they need to secure and retain good-paying jobs,” Ivanka stated in a call with reporters.

Sounds noble, doesn’t it? Did you notice the absence of words like “personal accountability” and “free markets” and the use the pronoun “we” to describe the federal government? Nancy Pelosi would be so proud.

In reality, Daddy’s little girl is promoting the equivalent of Common Core for colleges where government money will only be doled out to those who “make the grade” — pardon the pun — as established by the government.

It makes sense when you think about it. Common Core fails to prepare students for college, and college fails to prepare students for the real world. Merging the two was inevitable.

In his overview of the proposal, Trump bragged about how he has “reversed regulatory initiatives that increased the cost of college, fueled skyrocketing student debt levels, and hampered innovation.” Ironic because he concluded by renewing his commitment to reform higher education “through legislation and regulatory reform.”

While including a mixed bag of good/bad principles, every “problem” came with a several big-government solutions.

“Congress should expand… Congress should reform… Congress should require…”

A few of the most troubling suggestions are: focusing on “student outcomes,” increasing “institutional accountability,” supporting “returning citizens,” and simplifying “student aid.”

While harmless-sounding on the surface, “student outcomes” and “institutional accountability” are buzzwords right out of the Common Core playbook.

Supporting “returning citizens,” aka criminals released from prison, sounds great. How else will the drug traffickers and gun felons released early from prison, thanks to Ivanka’s and Van Jones’ prisoner reform legislation, go to college?

Simplifying “student aid” sounds like a good idea until you get to the part where Trump proposes the expansion of student loan forgiveness. I guess borrowing money you never have repay is pretty simple. And as a man with numerous bankruptcies to his credit, it’s no surprise that he supports defacto bankruptcy on school loans.

Never having to repay taxpayer-funded student loans has always been a key part of Ivanka’s agenda. In Sept. 2018, she supported a bill proposed by Rep. Rodney Davis (R-IL) that would allow companies to cover student-loan payments as a tax-free benefit, the same way they are allowed to pay for college tuition reimbursement or for health insurance.

You may be thinking, “Doesn’t that mean the loan gets paid?” Yes and no. The loan is repaid, but as a tax-free benefit the employee pays no taxes on the money and the employer is able to reduce compensation costs. In the end, the cost of the student loan is shifted to the taxpayer.

Neal McCluskey, director of the CATO Institute’s Center for Educational Freedom blames the high cost of college on government handouts and tax breaks. And he believes that creating more giveaway programs will only make the situation worse.

In response to Davis’ bill, McCluskey stated that the government should get out of the education-financing business. “The root problem in American higher education is government subsidies, especially to students in the forms of federal grants, loans, and tax credits,” McCluskey said. “They enable colleges to raise their prices, often at rates well in excess of inflation, and students to demand lots of things that have little, if anything, to do with learning.”

McCluskey is right, but I have a feeling that Ivanka is about to chalk up another victory for her socialist feminist agenda by working “across the aisle” to make Common Core for college a reality … with Daddy’s blessing.

Free college at government taxpayer expense is in Bernie Sanders’ platform, but it looks like Trump will beat him to it.

Liz Wheeler on Ilhan Omar: Chant ‘vote her out’ and then do it

Liz Wheeler on Ilhan Omar Chant vote her out and then do it

One America News host Liz Wheeler was in rare form yesterday as she hammered Representative Ilhan Omar over a plethora of bigoted statements, horrible policy proposals, and anti-American perspectives. Her worldview is not one that should be in Congress, but Wheeler also made an important point about how that worldview needs to be removed. Instead of calling to “send her back,” Americans should be chanting, “vote her out.”

This is America. As ridiculous as it is that someone with the radically unpatriotic ideology that Omar demonstrates is sitting in a chair on Capitol Hill, we must respect that she’s an American citizen and a duly elected representative of her Congressional district. It makes no sense, but that’s the way things are for now. As much as we would love to see her replaced, we must do it the way that makes the most sense – at the ballot box.

If it’s proven that she broke immigration laws or committed fraud of other kinds, then we can talk about other measures. But until then, she is innocent until proven guilty. At this point, there isn’t even an investigation into her past actions, let alone charges filed. We must respect due process rights from start to finish, even if we disagree with someone. We expect people on the left to disregard the Constitution. As conservatives, we must not go to that low level with them.

Here’s the transcript from the video of Wheeler’s final point on her show, Tipping Point:

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is a bigot.

She supports the anti-semitic BDS movement that does not think Israel has a right to exist.

Ilhan Omar compared Israel to Nazi Germany just yesterday she spoke at a conference this year sponsored by the Council on American-Islamic relations who was an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terror financing prosecution in US history.

Ilhan Omar once tweeted that Jews and Israel have hypnotized the world.

Omar claimed that any U.S. politician who supports Israel was bought off by the Jews. She says their support for Israel is “All about the Benjamins.”

Ilhan Omar laughed about al-Qaeda during an interview and asked why we don’t talk about the U.S. the same way we talked about al-Qaeda. You know, the terror organization that waged the 9/11 terror attacks against us and killed 3,000 people.

Ilhan Omar then dismissed 9/11 as “some people did something.”

She supports Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro. In fact, Ilhan omar blames the U.S. for Maduro’s tyranny and oppression as the Maduro regime murders dissidents in the street if they dare to protest or criticize him.

Ilhan Omar is also pushing the Green New Deal in Congress which would transform the United States into a socialist state and force you to pay for other people’s universal basic income if they don’t want to work. It would also ban fossil fuels and force you to retrofit your house to be green and prohibit or penalize air travel.

Ilhan Omar supports Medicare-For-All which would force 150 million people off their current health care plans, cost 1 million Americans their jobs, and forced tax hikes on the middle class. In fact, Omar wants to force you to be a part of Medicare-for-All because she thinks she knows what’s best for you.

At the same time she’s introducing a bill in Congress pushing the BDS movement that literally says what’s best for Israel is for Israel not to have the right to exist. Imagine this woman having power over your health care.

And speaking of the right to exist., Ilhan Omar glorifies abortion without restriction up until the moment of birth and after all this, when Omar was asked if she regrets her vile anti-Semitic comments that even drew condemnation from Nancy Pelosi, Omar says “nope.”

This is why Ilhan Omar only has nine percent approval rating among swing voters in our country, because Omar’s views are bigoted and racist and socialist and radical and utterly antithetical to the values on which this nation was built – freedom and liberty and justice for all. So chant, “vote her out.” Do not chants “send her back.” She’s a citizen of the United States. This is her home. Do not distract from her bigotry. Chant “vote her out” and then do it. Vote her out of office before she imposes her disgusting bigotry on our nation.

And that’s is my final point.

Wheeler is absolutely correct. The time to vote Ilhan Omar out of office is coming next year. In the meantime, let’s keep the focus on her bigotry and failed socialist ideology. The left has no defense against the truth.

The real reason Kamala Harris and others keep dodging on Medicare-for-All funding

The real reason Kamala Harris and others keep dodging on Medicare-for-All funding

Arguably the first major “dumb” moment for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was when she replied to a question about paying the $32 trillion price tag associated with Medicare-for-All. She said, “You just pay for it.”

Conservatives were laughing at the response while many Independents and even some Democrats were scratching their collective heads. But she meant exactly what we said. Let’s put a pin in that for a moment and move on to an interview Kamala Harris did with CNN.

Even the Democrat-friendly CNN reporter couldn’t help but press Harris about how she plans to pay for Medicare-for-All without raising taxes on the middle class. Bernie Sanders has acknowledged he’d have to raise taxes to pay for Medicare-for-All. What strange math does Harris know that Sanders does not? Is it simply artful dodging of the question over and over again as the Senator kept calling it an “investment”? Is she just pandering, knowing darn well she’ll have to raise taxes on everyone in order to fund socialized medicine but pretending like she won’t? Or is she being absolutely serious?

I’m going with that. She’s saying what she means. In essence, she’s saying what AOC said. Harris is just going to have the U.S. government pay for it even if tax dollars won’t cover it.

At this point one might be thinking that both Harris and Ocasio-Cortez are delusional. If that were the case, I wouldn’t be too worried. But they’re not delusional, at least not to the point that they don’t really know what they’re insinuating by saying the government is going to “invest” in Medicare-for-All and we’re just going to pay for it. There’s only one way to do this without drastic tax increases. It’s called Modern Monetary Theory and AOC has been on board with the disastrous concept since before she was elected. Now, it seems Harris is going to invoke the same methodology to pay for her version of Medicare-for-All and whatever else she has up her sleeve.

In essence, Modern Monetary Theory erases the fear of budget deficits and skyrocketing national debt by printing money. And more money. And again. Rinse. Repeat.

It’s the precursor for hyperinflation, though its proponents claim otherwise. They’ll tell you we’re already running trillion dollar deficits and nothing bad is happening, so why not keep going? Why not run five trillion dollar deficits? Or more? The government and the Fed have the power to keep printing as much money as they want, and as long as the U.S. Dollar is the world reserve currency, there’s really no way for hyperinflation to set in.

But it will. There’s no possible way to avoid it once the world takes note because they’ll instantly seek other avenues to replace the Dollar. That includes OPEC and the designation of the petrodollar being shifted. Nobody wants to rely on a currency that is being devalued by its own government. They’ll bail. And when they do, hyperinflation will set in.

When radical progressive politicians give strange responses about how they’re going to pay for their huge projects, take them at their word when they say they’ll just pay for it. They have a plan in mind that’s more dangerous than anything our economy has faced.

The Suicide Squad wins the Twitter war but loses anywhere else

The Suicide Squad wins the Twitter war but loses anywhere else

We can argue about whether Trump’s tweets were strategic or narcissistic. The result is the same: Trump provoked four Congresswomen into revealing their hatred for America. In doing so they took to Twitter to declare that President Trump is a racist. The Suicide Squad and their legions trended anti-Trump hashtags on Twitter for days. On the surface it appears that it was a bad weekend for Trump.

On the Twittersphere, Trump’s week is off to a bad start. The Suicide Squad has won the Twitter front, yet lost everywhere else. When CNN asked Republican women about the issue, they vehemently defended Trump’s statements. Earlier this week, they held a longwinded press conference that amounted to nothing more than a long campaign commercial for Trump 2020.

Echo Chambers

The media continuously overestimates American involvement on Twitter because the media is on Twitter and Twitter is where the news happens because the media is on Twitter. If that sounds circular, it’s because that’s how the media works. Polls show that Americans do not care about the Mueller Report, yet Twitter would have you think otherwise. The media wants you to believe that Twitter is an organic social platform, and popular stories, hashtags, conversation are the result of the merit of the stories. But Jack Dorsey is not neutral, saying so himself. Twitter Moments is the hand selected stories by Twitter for its users and the “For You” section of trends is certainly manipulated. So how significant is Twitter, really? Not that much. Let’s consider the words of MarketWatch’s Brett Arends:

According to the company’s own public filings, only about 20% of the U.S. population even uses Twitter. And less than half of those go on it regularly.

And as everyone knows, only a tiny percentage of those dominate the “conversation.”

To listen to Twitter two years ago, after the far-right demonstration in Charlottesville, you’d think everyone wanted Confederate statues knocked down. Actually, there wasn’t even strong support for that among African-Americans. A few months ago, you’d have assumed absolutely everyone wanted Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam to resign over the “black face” affair: Actually, even most black Virginians didn’t. Today you’d think everyone calls illegal immigrants “undocumented workers,” and wants them to have free, universal health care. Really?

So while most Americans are uninformed as to what Trump actually said, not having a Twitter account, the media will spin a poll by USA Today/ Ipsos to show that majority of Americans think that Trump’s tweets were racist. Here are their findings in their own words:

Trump’s controversial tweets open a wider discussion about racism versus patriotism. Two-thirds (65%) agree that telling minority Americans to “go back to where they came from” is racist. However, there is a 40-percentage point difference between Democrats and Republicans on this (85% of Democrats agree vs. 45% of Republicans). Similarly, the vast majority of Republicans (70%) believe that people who call others “racist” usually do so in bad faith, whereas just 31% of Democrats believe the same

Americans come together on the idea that it is patriotic to point out where America falls short and try to do better. Almost three-quarters agree (72%), with majority support even across party lines (80% of Democrats and 68% of Republicans).

Generically, telling someone to “go back” to their own country is likely racist, but applying these results to Trump’s tweets is devoid of context rendering the poll meaningless. Ilhan Omar is fundamentally anti-American and Trump questioning why she bothers staying is completely not racist within context. A poll asking generic questions with an assumed premise as to what Trump’s tweet was is misleading, and quite frankly, the results are underwhelming for the Socialist narrative even with overwhelming bias in the poll. The New York Post in carrying this false assumption about the poll said noted these findings:

But 70 percent of respondents say “people who usually call others ‘racist’ usually do so in bad faith,” while 31 percent of Democrats say so.

Going back to the CNN video we see women asked with the context known or presented whether they think that what Trump said was racist and they pushed back on the assumption of racism. The most powerful part of that video was the CNN lady defining racism assuming Trump’s words even remotely came close to surpassing the definition she read. She got wrecked.

Final Thoughts

The Trump campaign and, in the far bigger picture, the Conservative movement will undoubtedly win this issue in the real world. The challenge is communicating the context. Conservatives should continue fighting their ideas on Twitter, but our main focus should be on other platforms, including and especially the real world. As long as the Socialists think they are winning in their own echo chambers, they will continue losing in the real world.
