Greyhound changes policy to prevent ICE from dropping off thousands of migrants in their stations

Greyhound changes policy to prevent ICE from dropping off thousands of migrants in their stations

For years, it’s been standard operating procedure for U.S. authorities to drop off illegal immigrants at bus stations when the local charitable organizations are too full to accept more of them. But the recent dramatic increase in the number of migrants crossing the border has forced Greyhound Lines Inc. to change its policies. Now, only those with a ticket are allowed to enter their stations.

“Our priority is to safely and efficiently get customers to their destinations,” Greyhound spokeswoman Crystal Booker said in a statement. She cited an “unprecedented increase in individuals” without tickets entering their stations as a reason for the new policy.

My Take

There are plenty of people to blame for this. First and foremost, the migrants themselves, driven by leftist propaganda and encouragement by open borders progressives, must take the bulk of the blame. They were told they would get taken care of if they could bypass the legal immigration and asylum request systems, and they believed it. Second, the President’s administration has been woefully inept at handling the border security crisis. Some will point to the lack of a wall and blame Democrats for the problem, but the government shutdown and subsequent battle over the President’s national emergency declaration didn’t happen until after the midterm elections.

Where was the outrage over the Democrats bullying the GOP when the GOP had control of the House, Senate, and White House for two years?

I understand that most conservative sites are scared to say anything bad about the President, but he promised us a wall and he has failed to deliver. If you say, “that’s on Congress,” then I’m assuming you’re giving Congress all the credit for the tax cuts the President signed. No, despite the selective memory of most, you can’t credit the President with everything Congress does that he signs then blame Congress for everything the President wasn’t able to push them to do.

The President has done many positive things, which I have written about here in the past, but let’s be intellectually honest with ourselves. On this issue, someone gave him bad advice to wait for the wall and he decided to take that advice instead of pressing the issue. We are a crowdfunded conservative news site that relies on the generosity of our readers, but if you’re hoping to support a GOP-loving, Trump-can-do-no-wrong news outlet, we’re not it. We call it how we see it with conservatism and America’s well-being in mind. Neither the President nor GOP has acted on behalf of Americans in stopping the crisis at the border. This is why despite having full control, illegal immigration has increased dramatically since Republicans took over.

The only ones not to blame for any of this is Greyhound. They’re doing what’s best for their customers. As a private company, their rights must be protected. Anyone who tries to force them to allow illegal immigrants into their stations without a ticket is being unAmerican.

Why E-Verify didn’t work at poultry plants in Mississippi and how to fix it

Why E-Verify didnt work at poultry plants in Mississippi and how to fix it

Many conservatives (myself included at one point) believe E-Verify is the silver bullet in protecting jobs from being taken by illegal immigrants. Some states, including Mississippi, mandate its use for new hires. But as the ICE raids on poultry plants in Mississippi demonstrated, the system isn’t being used 100% of the time as mandated and when it’s used, it doesn’t always work.

There are loopholes illegal immigrants can use to circumvent the system. It doesn’t check on the legality of an individual, only whether or not their paperwork is acceptable. But if that paperwork is being shared or was taken from someone else, including the deceased, then the system won’t flag them. It should.

The reason 680 people were apprehended in a single day last week is because the E-Verify system isn’t foolproof and isn’t being used 100% of the time. This needs to be fixed immediately.

According to the Washington Post:

In Mississippi, the companies — Koch Foods, Peco Foods, PH Food, A&B and Pearl River Foods — intentionally hired Guatemalan and Mexican immigrants who are not authorized to work in the United States “for the purpose of commercial advantage or private financial gain,” according to search-warrant affidavits unsealed in federal court after the Aug. 7 raids.

Investigators allege that numerous employees at Pearl River Foods had submitted stolen names and Social Security numbers, including those belonging to the deceased.

At times, companies did not appear to have made an effort to check certain workers’ information in the online E-Verify system, according to the affidavits.

How to fix it

There are many things that need to be revamped in order for E-Verify to work properly. First and foremost, it needs to be updated through cross-referencing other databases, most notably whatever database the IRS uses to determine that someone is deceased. If the data is inaccurate or dated, it presents an opening for illegal immigrants to exploit.

Second, the laws need to be enforced. If a state mandates the use of E-Verify, then businesses caught not using it should be punished. Right now, that’s just not happening. They’re not even getting a slap on the wrist in most cases. If they’re caught like the poultry plants in Mississippi, then they should be placed on a watch list and progressively punished for their lack of compliance through increasing fines and risk of losing state business licenses.

But the most important change must be in the way the system is used. We have technology available to flag irregularities. If a person’s documents are being used repeatedly at multiple locations in a short time, that should prompt law enforcement to investigate. Chances are good they’ll be able to identify and apprehend illegal immigrants up until the point word gets out their scam is no longer working.

The promise of employment is the key driving force behind the massive migrant problem that’s causing our border crisis. Take away the jobs and many migrants will stop coming. We have the tools. Let’s use them.

Google’s social justice warrior workforce is making demands about ICE, CBP

Googles social justice warrior workforce is making demands about ICE CBP

A petition created by Google employees is circulating through the big tech hallowed halls calling for the company to cease any engagements with ICE, CBP, or any government agencies that “engaged in caging and torturing vulnerable people.”

It’s just the latest group of progressive employees at a tech giant making demands of their employers regarding the government clientele they service. Microsoft, Amazon, and Facebook have had similar situations regarding government contracts, particularly with the military. This is the first one to be hit with demands regarding border patrol and ICE law enforcement agencies.

“Google has repeatedly advertised its commitments to implementing ethical guardrails on its tech. Google’s AI Principles state that Google will not build technologies ‘whose purpose contravenes widely accepted principles of international law and human rights,'” the Googlers posted in a statement. “By any interpretation, CBP and ICE are in grave violation of international human rights law. The company has also pledged to create a diverse, inclusive, and psychologically safe workplace for all its workers, including immigrants and Latinx people — the very populations whose communities, families, and friends are being terrorized by CBP and ICE.”

In that single paragraph, one can easily discern the misplace passions these leftists are experiencing. The whole document is laden with logical fallacies. In this paragraph, they’re “begging the question” by saying “by any interpretation” ICE and CBP are committed human rights violations. This is, of course, not even close to the truth. It’s not by “any” interpretation. It’s only by a very narrow interpretation of the necessary actions ICE and CBP undertake in order to keep us safe that anyone can consider these human rights violations.

Google employees accuse Border Patrol of ‘torturing’ immigrants, refuse to work with agencies

Google employees launched the petition after CBP announced it was accepting bids from private companies to provide cloud services for the agency. Over 700 Google employees have signed the petition, along with over 50 former employees and others.

The petition compared Google working with the immigration agencies to IBM working with the Nazis. The petition cites Google’s principles for developing artificial intelligence and staying within “ethical guardrails.”

Keep in mind, many of the people signing these petitions have power over the information and news we’re presented online. As Google continues to claim to be unbiased, their own employees are telling a very different story.

It’s time to punish businesses that employ illegal aliens

Its time to hit businesses that employ illegal aliens

When ICE had its raids last week of chicken processing plants in Mississippi, a few good things came out of it. Obviously, capturing hundreds of illegal immigrants, many of whom will likely be deported, is an obvious positive. Koch Foods, who owned some of the plants that were hit, held a job fair that was well received by legal applicants.

But there’s a negative that came from it as well. It highlighted that there are businesses in America that regularly employ illegal immigrants. There’s no telling what will happen to Koch Foods, if anything. ICE’s worksite enforcement investigators will work with others at the DoJ and law enforcement agencies in Mississippi to conduct those investigation.

Whatever it takes to do it and whoever is responsible for doing so, it’s long past time that businesses are held accountable.

In my youth, I was a manager at a steakhouse in Oklahoma City. Two instances really opened my eyes about illegal immigrants in the workforce. One involved another manager who thought it would be funny to scream “INS, INS!” in the kitchen to see what happened. This was before ICE, of course. At the time the Immigration and Naturalization Services were responsible for catching illegal immigrants, so her screams in the kitchen were met with not-so-funny results. Several of the employees bolted for the back entrance.

The other incident happened shortly after when I did my own audit of the paperwork submitted by some of our employees. What I found was discouraging; several of the documents used to prove legal work status were duplicates. Same numbers, but doctored with different names. When I pointed this out to the owner, I expected a pat on the back. Instead, I was rebuked. “We aren’t the police. If they have paperwork, we hire them.”

This was a different era. Today, things like that don’t happen, right? Of course they do.

Before I get into the “cruel” need to enforce our laws as a sovereign nation, let’s talk about the consequences of businesses employing illegal immigrants. The first is obvious. Every job held by an illegal immigrant is a job that should be held by someone in the country legally. The common rebuttal to this is that there are some jobs that only illegal immigrants are willing to do. This is a bald-faced lie built on a fictional premise. Koch Foods learned this the hard way.

But there’s an even bigger problem, at least in our current economic boom that’s reducing unemployment to record low levels. The problem is incentive. We already have enough incentives for migrants to come to America in the form of the “free stuff” they’re being guaranteed by Democrats. But most migrants are coming to America to work. They’re not interested in free stuff, though they’ll take it. They just want jobs that are secure and pay better than they make in their home countries.

By giving them these jobs, employees are encouraging them to come into the country illegally as well as to call on friends and family to jump in with next migrant caravan. It’s making our border crisis much more difficult to manage because it makes them believe they’re going to get everything they want out of America.

If jobs were not available to illegal immigrants, much fewer would even want to come over.

If employers are harming America by giving jobs to illegal immigrants, they do not deserve to be beneficiaries of the American entrepreneurial dream.

That may seem cruel to say, but here’s the thing. Leftists can scream about compassion all day, but they are only looking at the plight of illegal immigrants. To them, I ask that they do any one of three things:

  • Look into a homeless veteran’s eyes and tell him the nation he fought for gave a job that could have been his to someone who defied the very sovereignty he served to protect,.
  • Tell a legal immigrant on welfare that their efforts in following our laws to gain entry are now secondary to the needs of those who broke the same laws.
  • Ask an Angel Mom to stop worrying about the employer who hired her son’s or daughter’s murderer, giving them cover so they could stay in America illegally.

If a leftist can do any of those things and still tell me the plight of the illegal immigrants is their only concern, I’d have to say they’re the ones who are actually cruel.

As long as illegal immigrants have a hope of getting a job in America, they’re going to continue flooding across the border. It’s time to take away their incentives, which means hitting businesses who enable them by breaking our laws.
