Conservative commentator Thomas Sowell has made a career out of being intelligent, fair, and truthful. His appearance on Fox Business yesterday was more of the same that we’ve come to expect from one of the greatest conservative thinkers of the modern era.
At stake now is the fate of America itself as Democrats tinker with the tenets of socialism as their new selling point to the American people. After demonstrating how the fairness supposedly offered by socialism is both impractical and impossible, Sowell’s tone turned darker. The question was posed about whether or not America could possibly go through a period under socialism despite all the evidence that demonstrates it doesn’t work.
“I do have a great fear that in the long run, we may not make it,” he said.
It would be a tremendous mistake for conservative Americans to assume that there’s no way America could ever become a socialist nation in whole or in part. The President said recently on multiple occasions that it will never happen, but his optimism may be misplaced.
If there’s one thing Americans have proven over the decades but especially recently, the allure of ideas that make no sense for the nation economically but that seem to offer temporary relief for our financial woes have been sold by Washington DC and bought by at least half of the voters. That’s why the Democratic Party is still around. It’s why they’ve chosen to take a far-left lurch since 2016. They’re betting hard on socialism and they’re going to do what they can to implement as many socialist ideas as possible if given the chance.
It’s imperative that we take the threat represented by the rapidly increasing popularity of socialist ideas. Don’t believe polls that say Americans don’t like it. Polls are guided by the questions, which is why they’re often worthless. Stay diligent, conservatives. Our future is at stake.
