The perennial “maybe” among Democratic candidates for president has, once again, declared he’s not running in 2020. Billionaire Michael Bloomberg has announced he will not be running based on the growing size of the field.
“I am clear-eyed about the difficulty of winning the Democratic nomination in such a crowded field,” he wrote.
Bloomberg, 77, has been all over the political spectrum through his years in politics, business, and activism. A former Republican and mayor of New York City, his staunch gun control stance and push to fight climate change have made him the moderate choice on multiple occasions without ever yielding a run.

This is good news for Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden, the other two old rich white men expected to run. Sanders has already announced his candidacy while Biden has remained on the fence.
My Take
I really like Michael Bloomberg as a person even though his authoritarian stances are far to leftist for me. Nevertheless, he’s been the common sense voice within the Democratic Party who, compared to the far-left radicals lining up to run, seemed nearly moderate.
With that said, it’s a shame that he couldn’t sink his money into attacking other candidates. That would have been better for the GOP than his current plan of using his resources to support a leftist agenda regardless of the candidate.
