Actor Jussie Smollett wasn’t happy with his $65,000 per episode, prompting him to send threatening letters about himself and engage in a hate-hoax to force the studio’s hand, according to Chicago police. The result: he has been arrested and faces multiple felony charges.
Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie T. Johnson held a press conference this morning to detail their version of events based on the ongoing investigation.
“As a black man who spent his entire life living in the city of Chicago, I know the racial divide that exists here,” Johnson said. “I know how hard it’s been for our city and our nation to come together … How can an individual who’s been embraced by the city of Chicago turn around and slap everyone in this city in the face by making these false claims?”
Will this get as much attention from leftist media, politicians, and celebrities as the original hoax itself? https://t.co/rwG1UGdoed

Obviously, this is a very disturbed man. His actions should be condemned, but let’s avoid trying to make him the face of progressivism in Hollywood, though the temptation may be very strong. His actions went way above the hatred and rhetoric normally directed at the President and his supporters.
What he did was shameful, but if there’s any lesson to be learned, it’s that the people who are so swift in jumping to conclusions, assuming the worst, and condemning anyone who may or may not have been wearing a MAGA hat must take a step back and examine their worldview. If a story is too juicy to be true, be cautious. There were oddities from the beginning with Smollett’s story, yet the hyper-leftists didn’t blink before condemning the “incident” as an example of what happens when you have a President like Trump.
Smollett is a symptom of a rapidly spreading illness taking over leftists in this nation. They only see what they want to see, which means truth is relative. If it fits their worldview, they go all in. Then, they double down. America needs to contend with this bias.
