Democrats and mainstream media have been filled with glee ever since Roger Stone was arrested. They took their glee up a notch when they learned he was being charged with serious crimes. In their state of rapturous celebration, they neglected to note one important development in Robert Mueller’s investigation.
If the Trump campaign was relying on Roger Stone for information about the hacks, they obviously had no direct contacts with the Russians as it pertained to the campaign. If they were colluding with the Russians, there would have been no need to go through Stone.
Democrats will call it a simple degree of separation and that Stone was actually working directly for the campaign at the time, but this will also be easily debunked. In short, there was no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
Some may argue that Stone was working on one component while the Trump campaign was working with Russians on other issues, but that’s not reflected in the charges. It’s clear there was one person working in the middle, Stone, and his involvement with the campaign can only be described as a tenacious fan. Any other characterization would be a stretch considering Stone was never part of meetings, wasn’t paid, and didn’t have apparent duties other than continuing to do what he had already done before the hacks were released.
It’s important to note that I’m not defending Stone’s actions nor the actions taken by the Trump campaign through him. I find it despicable that any patriotic American would ever engage with WikiLeaks even if there was potential benefit for the campaign. We shouldn’t pick and choose when an immoral, anti-American organization like WikiLeaks is considered a good guy or a bad guy.
Working with WikiLeaks is almost as devious as paying foreign entities for opposition research that yielded an outrageous dossier, but I digress.
With acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker stating the Mueller probe is nearly over, it’s a clear indicator that his investigation is coming to the same conclusion that we are: Stone’s charges mean the Trump campaign did not directly collude with Russia.
The video above from DailyWire‘s Andrew Klavan reiterates some of these points.
You can’t have it both ways. Either the Trump campaign was colluding with Russia or they were relying on Roger Stone to get them information. Since the Mueller campaign clearly believes the latter, there cannot be collusion, period.
