A police officer in David, CA, has died from a gunshot suffered during a 3-car traffic accident. The alleged gunman was found dead in his home from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Just before 7:00 pm Thursday, Officer Natalie Corona, 22, was responding to the accident when she was shot. She was pronounced dead at UC Davis Medical Center soon after.
Corona had just started patrol duty two weeks ago. She graduated from the police academy in July after serving as a community service volunteer officer since 2016. Davis Police Chief Darren Pytel said she was a rising star on the force.
Officers were able to locate the suspect’s house. They sent in a robot and utilized flash bangs before entering to find the unidentified suspect dead.
