If you thought the Kevin Spacey sexual misconduct situation was weird, just wait. It seems like it may be getting weirder as there may be a video of the alleged groping of an 18-year-old busboy.
Reports indicate the accuser took a video and sent it to his girlfriend through Snapchat because she didn’t believe him. Police are indicating they have a copy of the video.
Spacey is accused of giving alcoholic beverages to the busboy at a restaurant he was at in 2016. He then groped the young man according to the charges.
Spacey came under fire when he was accused of getting on top of a then-14-year-old actor at a party. When the first accusation was made, Spacey released a statement saying he was sorry for any harm that he had done, and he used the statement to declare he had was choosing now to “live as a gay man.”
To Spacey’s credit, he did not come out with a blanket denial. His reply comes across as sincere… perhaps a little too sincere. Calling what he may or may not have done “deeply inappropriate drunken behavior” isn’t playing very well on social media. Here’s his statement, in which he admits one more juicy tidbit:
This is big news across the board. If coming out now is enough to distract media away from the sordid details of the alleged moves he made on a 14-year-old, then he may not suffer the same fate as Weinstein. If not, this could end up being a strong career derailed by stupidity and sexual deviancy.
Since then, he was removed from his popular Netflix show, House of Cards, which wrapped its final season without Spacey. He has also been accused of other sexual crimes.
Things had been quiet until Christmas Eve when he released a bizarre video that may or may not have been an attempt to get ahead of the charges by declaring his innocence. It’s hard to tell as he performed the video in character as Frank Underwood.
Today has been a weird one in the weird life of actor Kevin Spacey. It started with the video above, in which he delivers an odd message while in character as Frank Underwood from his Netflix show House of Cards. It continued as felony sexual assault charges were revealed against the disgraced actor.
The video itself would be newsworthy as it seems to either insinuate he has more planned for his acting career while also possibly being a claim of innocence about the charges that were about to be revealed. Whether that was intentional or not is unknown, but it’s creepy nonetheless.
This will be an interesting test of Hollywood’s rebound abilities. Disgraced stars have made comebacks in the past. Heck, Roman Polanski is still adored in some circles. But this is the #MeToo era. Spacey may be done for good.
