The news was too big for mainstream media to completely ignore, at least most of them. NY Times, Washington Post, and many leftist news outlets mentioned the mess surrounding California Democratic Party Chairman Eric Bauman, though the coverage was minuscule compared to the media circus that would have erupted if a state Republican Party chairman stepped down over sexual misconduct allegations.
Everyone did better than both CNN and MSNBC. Searches of their sites for the keyword “Eric Bauman” revealed zero coverage of the story.
Fox News has five separate stories starting November 26 and following it all the way through to the announcement of Bauman’s resignation.
Bauman, who allegedly made sexually explicit comments while at work and sometimes touched staffers without permission, said it was “in everyone’s best interest” for him to step down from his post.
“I have made the realization that in order for those to whom I may have caused pain and who need to heal, for my own health, and in the best interest of the party that I love and to which I have dedicated myself for more than 25 years, it is in everyone’s best interest for me to resign my position as chair of the California Democratic Party,” Bauman said in a statement provided to The Los Angeles Times.
Let’s call it like it is. This is one of the lead stories on CNN and MSNBC if a Republican chairman resigned over sexual misconduct allegations. Any ties to the President would be highlighted. It’s a Democrat, so mainstream media pretends it didn’t happen.
