GOP leadership has turned the politics of distraction into an art form

The politics of distraction has been used by politicians in both parties for years as a way to fool voters into supporting them by shifting attention away from their lies and broken promises.

However, after two years of betrayals so blatant that they aren’t even trying to hide it anymore, the GOP has turned the politics of distraction into an art form for them to sell their bill of fake-conservative goods.

In honing their artistic skills, Republicans have perfected the craft of making it look like they’re working and keeping their promises while simultaneously giving the impressions that their failures are not their fault. Two areas where this has been most obvious are abortion and illegal immigration.

After failing to keep their promise to defend life and defund Planned Parenthood, GOP leaders held a show vote on a bill protecting babies that survive the attempt on their lives. When that bill failed to advance in the Senate, as expected, so-called conservatives and pro-life groups still bragged about how they did all they could for the unborn and how the other side was to blame.

After fully funding Planned Parenthood by passing a spending bill that ensured that the baby killers will continue to get their tax-payer-financed payday, they terminated a meaningless $16,000 contract with a baby body parts harvesting company while providing over $100 million to Health and Human Services to buy parts from other sources.

After promising to eliminate DACA but then fighting to keep it and promising to fix the border but then enacting policies that resulted in a record-breaking surge in illegal border crossings, House Speaker hopeful Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) helped pass a meaningless resolution condemning voting by illegals because it degraded the election process.

After funding DACA and sanctuary cities while failing to fund the wall and ICE in the recent #MiniBusBetrayal spending bill, McCarthy waited until the House was out of session (not returning until after the election) to introduce a stand-alone bill to fund the border wall, which could have been done in any of six Continuing Resolutions or omnibus bills over the past two years.

While the bill isn’t going anywhere, McCarthy gets to play the role of political promise keeper without the need to put his money where his mouth is while simultaneously putting another notch in his vote for me as House Speaker belt.

And to those who would support Trump even if he murdered someone on Fifth Avenue, every bill that has reached his desk has been signed. These betrayals belong to him as well.

GOP leadership in Congress and the White House has been a complete failure, and even though they’ve turned the politics of distraction into a type of starving-artist, election-year sale, that doesn’t mean we should buy what they’re selling.

10 things to do instead of watching the Democrats debate tonight

10 things to do instead of watching the Democrats debate tonight

In 2016, I watched every debate the Democratic Party put on. Their policies were in a state of flux at the time and I wanted to learn more about that crazy up-and-coming whippersnapper, Senator Bernie Sanders.

This time, there are many reasons I won’t be watching the debate. First, the field is too big for now. I just don’t care enough about what 2/3rds of them have to say because less than 1/3rd actually have at least a minor shot of getting the nomination. The others are fundraising for their next election.

Second, I already know all the answers. Tim Young broke them down:

The third and final reason (there are more, but let’s not get boring) I won’t be watching tonight’s debate is because there are so many better ways to spend my time. Here are 10 things people should be doing that would be time better spent.

  1. Volunteer at a homeless shelter, especially if you live in a Democrat-controlled city like San Francisco, Seattle, or New York.
  2. Eat dinner at Chick-fil-A.
  3. Read the Constitution instead of listening to people who view it as a hindrance to their goals.
  4. Learn how we’re working to stop socialism from rising in America.
  5. Clean your guns. Too many gun owners aren’t doing proper maintenance.
  6. Learn about the growing threat of the Muslim Brotherhood.
  7. Preorder “Unplanned“.
  8. Spend time with family, friends, pets, or anyone you know who could use some encouragement today.
  9. Shop at Wayfair.
  10. Literally anything else.

Spoiler alert: They all hate Trump. They all want to stop America from being divided. They all want you to hate successful Americans. The Democrats’ responses will be variations of “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.”

Progressives’ contradictions make their immigration goals crystal clear

Progressives contradictions make their immigration goals crystal clear

Progressives are pushing what seems to be contradictory narratives on the same subject. The “concentration camp” narrative and all associated stories about poor conditions at migrant centers across the southern border is designed to invoke hatred that can be directed at the President for forcing migrants to live in terrible conditions. The “not a dime” narrative says American taxpayers should not spend anything additional on improving border housing quality and quantity.

Today, many Wayfair employees are walking out in protest because the company is selling beds to a contractor that supplies migrant centers. That’s the contradictory narrative in action, complaining that the kids aren’t comfortable while staying at migrant centers, then boycotting companies supplying the means to make them more comfortable.

Conservatives on Twitter responded:

The reality is this: They want the migrant centers to be so packed, so uncomfortable, and so inhumane that the outcry from America is to just let them go. Here is their narrative in a nutshell:

Give them their asylum hearing papers and let them go. In fact, take them wherever they want to go in America. If they show up for their hearing, so be it. If not, great! They’re immigrants like everyone else now. Give them a driver’s license, social services, free school, free housing, free healthcare, free food, free clothes, and anything else they can’t afford. Soon, we’ll give them voting rights. Because by coming here, they’re now Americans and deserve all of the rights of American citizens… plus plus plus.

If all of this sounds ludicrous, it’s because it is. If it sounds reasonable, you’re a modern-day radical progressive, in which case I welcome you to this site and I hope you read it thoroughly every day until you abandon your destructive ideology.

There is no contradiction in what progressives are promoting. They want all migrants released to the interior without hesitation. No stop at a migrant center. Just give them their papers and allow them to go if they want. If they don’t want to go immediately, take care of them until they do. That’s the current goal for progressives on border security. They want no security at all.

It’s time to stop arguing against progressives using logic. They won’t see it. They set their mind on a goal and will then do anything to achieve that goal. It doesn’t truly matter to them if migrants die in the process. In fact, it makes their case faster; the more deaths that happen at the border or in migrant centers, the easier it becomes for them to push their narrative.

Progressives don’t want beds for the migrants. They don’t want them to be held at all. We need to stop scratching our heads at their apparent contradiction and understand what progressives really want.

Ami Horowitz: What is the Muslim Brotherhood?

Published

Ami Horowitz What is the Muslim Brotherhood

For an organization that is so wide-reaching, so prominent, and so recognizable across the globe, very little is known about the Muslim Brotherhood by most Americans. They’re an 800-lb gorilla disguised as a harmless puppy that may occasionally bark or growl but can’t do any real damage. The more we learn about their decades of influence and planning in the United States, the scarier this puppy becomes.

Ami Horowitz did an incredible investigative piece on the Muslim Brotherhood, released yesterday by PragerU.

“The US has been a target of the Brotherhood for many years,” Horowitz reported. “Many of its members founded some of this country’s largest Islamic organizations, including CAIR, the Islamic Society of North America, the Muslim Student Association, Students for Justice in Palestine, the Muslim American Society, among many others.”

But if you ask any of these groups about their affiliation with the Muslim Brotherhood, they claim there is absolutely no connection. This seems to be a universally told lie.

According to Horowitz, “While some of these groups deny current involvement with the Muslim Brotherhood, many of the same founders are still involved with these organizations and they seem to share the same philosophical underpinnings of the Brotherhood.”

They are working on multiple fronts inside the United States to subvert our culture, governance, and freedoms. To do this, they don’t just act against us. Sometimes, they actually use our own money in the process.

“The Holy Land Foundation was once the largest Islamic charity in the United States. It’s supposed organizational mission was to fund humanitarian programs for Arabs in the Palestinian territories. In reality, it was a front organization for the Muslim Brotherhood to help finance Hamas as terrorist activities. In 2009, the founders of the organization were given sentences of between 15 and 65 years in prison for funneling 12 million dollars to Hamas. Among the unindicted co-conspirators listed by the prosecution was a who’s who of major U.S. Islamic leadership including CAIR, the Islamic Society of North America, the North Islamic Trust Fund, and many others.”

They aren’t just raising money. They’re teaching people, converting them. One of their biggest targets are American jails. In prison, the Muslim Brotherhood literally has a captive audience. It is here they’re able to find people willing to act violently and who are ripe for becoming devoted members to the cause of both Islam and the Muslim Brotherhood itself.

What Ami Horowitz shows us in this 15-minute PragerU video should be considered nothing short of required watching for all patriotic Americans. You may not be concerned about the Muslim Brotherhood now, but you should be.
