Let me keep it short but sweet. Democrats in the Senate have put maximum effort towards making the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation a total debacle. They did this to stall with hopes they could win the Senate and force either a nominee they liked or no nominee at all until after the 2020 elections. One can even argue their stalling was more about Christine Blasey Ford; conspiracy theorists say they may have known about Ford for a while but needed to stall in order to convince her to come forward.
Now that the FBI report they wanted is out and proves nothing at all, they have no choice. It’s time to vote.
To all Senators who claim to be “undecided,” now’s the time to do the right thing. Republicans, Democrats, whoever – you must confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. For Republicans, it’s about maintaining credibility within your own caucus. For Democrats in red states, your only hope for keeping you seat is to be on the right side of this debate.
Supreme Court nominations are about determining whether someone is qualified to and capable of fulfilling the duties of a Supreme Court Justice. Judge Kavanaugh is quite qualified and very capable of doing so. Political ideologies aside, this confirmation should have been done already. Accusations aside, this should have sailed through.
Call it a day, folks. Get Kavanaugh confirmed. Then you can get your spin-doctors moving for the final month of campaigning. As much as campaign buildup bugs me, it’s better than the Kavanaugh confirmation soap opera.
