Democratic Congressional intern Jackson A Cosko arrested for doxing GOP Senators

Jackson A. Cosko, a 27-year-old intern for Representative Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), has been arrested by U.S. Capitol Police for “doxing” Republican members of the Senate on Wikipedia during the Brett Kavanaugh hearings before the Senate Judicial Committee last Thursday. His targets included Senators Lindsey Graham, Mike Lee, and Orrin Hatch.

Cosko allegedly posted personal information about the Senators to their Wikipedia pages, including their home addresses and telephone numbers. He’s been charged with witness tampering, threats in interstate communications, unauthorized access of a government computer, identity theft, second degree burglary and unlawful entry.

“Doxing” is the criminal act of exposing private information about individuals to the internet, usually with the intent of bringing them embarrassment, harassment, or even physical harm.

When news broke that the Senators were doxxed and an IP check revealed it came from the House of Representatives, Maxine Waters was accused. She gave a heated denial.

Maxine Waters responds to ‘despicable’ accusations her office leaked GOP senators’ information

“This unfounded allegation is completely false and an absolute lie,” Waters continued.

It appears the “ultra-right wing pundits” had the right story with the wrong office.

My Take

As with just about everything associated with the Kavanaugh confirmation, this adds more fuel to the raging dumpster fire. Republicans may not be innocent in wrecking the judicial confirmation process, but Democrats have gone out of their way to take one of the most important aspects of our Constitutional Republic and turn it into a debacle.

There are unhinged and deranged people on both sides in Washington DC, but the Kavanaugh confirmation has demonstrated the Democrats hold the lion’s share of extreme political activists. If he is convicted, I hope Cosko gets a healthy sentence.
