Electoral Dysfunction: Leftist lawyers argue votes count only when they win

Published

on

Some leftist lawyers, including some high profile ones who ought to know better, are arguing against four states’ practice of allocating their electoral votes in a winner take all fashion.

A lawyers’ coalition including the pretty far left League of United Latin American Citizens filed four federal lawsuits Wednesday challenging the allocation, charging the winner take all practice “distorts presidential campaigns, facilitates outside interference in our elections, and ensures that a substantial number of citizen voters are disenfranchised when their votes are tallied in early November, only to be discarded when it really counts in mid-December.”

The lawsuits do not challenge the Electoral College, and they also do not propose a clear alternative which would ensure a satisfactory, proportionate count. No surprise there; outside of North Korea, it’s kind of hard to ensure the outcome you want in advance.

The premise of the lawsuit, however, lays bare a shocking misunderstanding of the nature of our system of government. Consider this quote: “The promise of democracy is that all votes count equally,” says Harvard Law School professor Lawrence Lussig.

There’s just one problem with that.

America is not a democracy. We are a constitutional republic.

Which Democratic candidates denounced Antifa? Some didn’t know who they were.

Which Democratic candidates denounced Antifa Some didnt know who they were

Antifa is a domestic terrorist organization that spreads violence and vitriol to otherwise peaceful events. When they have their own events, they get even more violent and spew even more vitriol. President Trump has denounced them unambiguously to the point of threatening to declare them an official terrorist organization. What do Democratic candidates for President think?

The folks at Turning Point USA are often too kind. They granted checkmarks to candidates who generally denounced hate, which is a cop-out response to a very specific question. But so be it. If they thought Jay Inslee, Joe Biden, Andrew Yang, and John Delaney’s generalized opposition to violence qualified as denouncing Antifa, it’s their video and their team’s effort that was put into tracking down the answers. Tulsi Gabbard gave the only non-generalized response saying, “I have denounced Antifa.”

Arguably the most concerning aspect of the video was seeing how many candidates needed to be told who Antifa even is. It’s not quite as egregious as Gary “What’s Aleppo” Johnson’s lack of awareness in the 2016 election, but anyone running for President of the United States should have acute awareness of the violence committed by Antifa, especially considering all of them love to condemn violence that comes from the right.

This is guaranteed: If President Trump had given any answer other than Gabbard’s in response to the same question about a white supremacist group, the press would have been relentless in their accusations of his implied support. Where’s the media calling out Julian Castro for replying to the question with “thanks”? Why aren’t journalists hounding Bernie Sanders for pretending he didn’t hear the question? Shouldn’t tough guy Cory Booker be held to account for his unwillingness to denounce the group when asked a direct question about them?

The truth is Democrats don’t really dislike Antifa. Some of them quietly support them. And that means mainstream media’s walking orders are to avoid discussing Antifa at all costs. They only make the news when they can be portrayed as a counter-movement against white supremacist groups.

By progressive standards, nearly all of the 2020 candidates support domestic terrorist group Antifa with their unwillingness to directly denounce them. Thanks to Lauryn Gray and TPUSA for bringing this information to light.

Steve Hilton: While Trump haters pray for a recession, the real economy is booming

Steve Hilton While Trump haters pray for a recession the real economy is booming

Americans believe in the Trump economy. It’s been helping them get jobs if they’re unemployed and better jobs if they were underemployed. It has raised wages, reduced taxes, and increased consumer spending to all-time highs. Even if you’re like many Americans who do not care about the stock market, Wall Street’s effects on Main Street are felt.

But if you listen to mainstream media, you’re likely hearing a different story. The fearmongers are actively attempting to crash the economy in hopes of using a recession against the President when the 2020 election rolls around. It’s disgusting when consider millions of Americans would be hurt by such a move, but the people pressing this false narrative are the same people who will be able to easily survive it. If their families relied on the prosperity the Trump economy is allowing, perhaps they’d think twice.

As Fox News host Steve Hilton pointed out, reality is not matching the narrative being pushed by the left. The more people are aware that recession talks are fake, the less likely they’ll become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Trump hits ‘nut job’ Anthony Scaramucci

Trump hits nut job Anthony Scaramucci

Anthony “Mooch” Scaramucci has been on a tear in recent days, coming out as a firm anti-Trump commentator on progressive news channels and spreading whatever vitriol he can must against his former boss. In case you don’t remember him, he was White House Director of Communications for 11 days before being fired.

His vocal tirades have been embraced by progressive media as well as Never Trumpers since he’s technically a former White House insider. But he’s the flavor of the week as his rhetoric will soon grow tiresome even to his fellow Trump haters. He’s abrasive and not the most likable guy, so they’ll discard him faster than they did Omarosa Manigault.

President Trump hasn’t taken kindly to the man who he offered a real opportunity to for a brief period before realizing he wasn’t the best fit for the job or as a member of the administration.

Somewhere in Scaramucci’s twisted mind, he believes all the sudden press he’s getting is going to benefit him. He thinks he’s a hero, as narcissists often do. But as this wears on, he’s going to find his revitalized fame is temporary.
