Am I the only one who likes the idea of the government being shut down? I know some people are not getting paid at the moment, but last time they were paid retroactively, so allow me to indulge in this Ayn Randian fantasy. I must confess it is a delicious fantasy where everyone relies only on the fruits of their own labor. Where theoretically nobody mooches off of my sweat just because their representative decided I am fortunate enough to be leeched upon. Where each person trades the value of his skills in exchange for the value of another’s.
Let me be blunt: I suck at writing code. Always have. But I’m a sleuth at troubleshooting and fixing most other things. I definitely should not be in charge of anyone’s website or app development, but I’ll gladly trade the value of what I am good at in exchange for someone else’s talent at writing code. Isn’t that a beautiful concept? That you can get paid for whatever you’re good at and then decide how you want to trade that value? God bless capitalism.
But the best guilty pleasure of mine about government shutting down is quite simply that nobody dies. This is shocking! You’d think by the way the Left constantly bombards us with the sob stories of the uninsured, unemployed, and poverty-stricken that there would be millions dying in the streets as soon as the clock struck midnight on Friday.
But, much like the Y2K bug, that didn’t happen. In fact, it ironically proves the opposite. It demonstrates on full display that we can still get along without a federal government! We can, through our own networks, lean on and support one another like Americans used to do before there was welfare. The country can run by itself, as was the original intent, without representatives living in DC full time.
If you’re scratching your head about why that is, that’s your homework assignment – to find out why people weren’t dying in the streets before there was welfare, free healthcare and a full time federal government. Here is a clue: Mutual Aid.
So when I hear the government’s shutting down, I immediately think of Galt’s Gulch, and the men who chose to live there, and I dream of a place where I can say the words, “I swear by my life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.”
Covid variant BA.5 is spreading. It appears milder but much more contagious and evades natural immunity. Best to boost your immune system with new Z-Dtox and Z-Stack nutraceuticals from our dear friend, the late Dr. Vladimir Zelenko.
