The tragic death of Andy Finch was allegedly the result of a gaming dispute that prompted a player to contact Tyler Raj Barriss, also known as “SWAuTistic” for his propensity to employ swatting as well as to make false bomb claims. Barriss claimed during an interview that he had caused an evacuation of the FCC.
The only recent FCC evacuation was on December 14 during the net neutrality vote. It briefly made national headlines, adding to the drama of a heavily monitored event as the FCC voted to rescind the Obama administrations net neutrality rules.
Barriss, or someone claiming to be “SWAuTistic,” makes the claim about the FCC after the 8 minute mark. He doesn’t explicitly mention the net neutrality incident, but no other incidents of FCC evacuations have been reported. He also claimed to have caused the evacuation of a Major League Gaming event in Dallas.
“Sometimes people will send me money on Paypal to SWAT someone, though typically since I kind of just work alone and do my own thing,” he said. “I just look for things to evacuate. It didn’t take a team of people to evacuate MLG Dallas. I just did that by myself. Same thing with the FCC. I just evacuated stuff for fun to get it on TV.”
Throughout the interview, the person claiming to be “SWAuTistic” expressed no remorse until the very end and continuously pointed fingers at other people who should share the blame for Finch’s death.

Kansas ‘swatting’ suspect arrested in Los Angeles
A 25-year-old man was arrested in South Los Angeles on Friday night in connection with an alleged “swatting” prank that resulted in a police-involved fatal shooting in Kansas, police said.
Authorities identified the suspect as Tyler Barriss of Los Angeles, KABC-TV reported. They say Barriss is suspected of making a hoax phone call to police in Wichita, Kan., that resulted in the death of an innocent 28-year-old man.
Wichita police officials were investigating whether the hoax phone call they received Thursday was an example of “swatting,” in which someone reports a false emergency in hopes of getting a SWAT team to arrive at a scene where no actual emergency exists.
FCC evacuates net neutrality vote after bomb threats
In a shocking moment right before its vote on a rollback of net neutrality rules, a security team abruptly evacuated the FCC’s high-profile hearing.
“On advice of security, we need to take a brief recess,” Chairman Ajit Pai told the room, as a live feed of the hearing cut out. Security told everyone in the room to exit, and to leave their belongings behind.

A discussing loser!! He doesn’t have the guts to do anything to someone’s face so he hides behind a computer screen. We can only hope that he gets the death penally for this cowardly act that caused the death of an innocent man. At the very lease be taken out of society for the rest of his life. How many times did this guy prank call until someone died?
@Rob quite honestly I’m mostly in agreement except the idea of planting the blame exclusively on him. The police motto is “To Protect and Serve” and yet as common as this kind of this has become, they have not adjusted their strategy with it in mind. In fact, its hard to even call what they have a strategy. Their current strategy would be liable to get hostages killed in the kind of situation they think they’re responding to if they’re going to shoot as soon as a door opens. Quite frankly I think the officers involved deserve the exact kind of punishment because of their recklessness and acting in a manner that even a military man in a warzone would be told to act better than and that’s to CHECK YOUR DAMN TARGETS.
