2016 was, without a doubt, one of the most insane years we’ve ever lived through. Two of the most thoroughly dislikable people on Earth were nominated to be the leader of the free world. Trump won, much to many people’s amazement. The liberals had a predictable meltdown, many even rioting over what they considered a “stolen” election, even as many of the rioters admitted they didn’t bother to vote.
Many of us looked forward to 2017, hoping and believing the insanity was over and that we could get on with our lives. However, that was not to be. The year started with more rioting on Inauguration Day as liberals continued to throw their childlike hissy fit.
The histrionics continued throughout the year with claims of a fraudulent election from Democrats, and belief that there should be a new election because “the Russians interfered in our Democratic process.” I guess they decided to ignore the fact that the Russians and others have been attempting to interfere in our elections for decades. The real reason for wanting a new election, for which there is no provision in the Constitution, is that the Left didn’t get their way.
A special prosecutor has been appointed and found nothing, but that doesn’t seem to bother the Democrats. It certainly hasn’t stopped their narrative.
President Trump performed in some ways far better than honest conservatives who didn’t support him ever dreamed he would. He filled numerous judicial seats with conservatives, including the Supreme Court vacancy left by the late Justice Scalia with Gorsuch.
The President and Defense Secretary Mattis have decimated ISIS and contained Islamic aggression. The tax reform bill, which had its good points and bad, has been passed, and with it a backdoor repeal of the individual mandate of Obamacare.
On the other hand, some of the President’s actions have been predictably amateurish. Instead of “draining the swamp” on January 21 by firing all the Obama holdovers, Trump kept many of them, including FBI Director James Comey, who he later fired when it made it look like the President as doing it to hide something to do with the Russian investigation.
His inability to restrain himself from tweeting the first thing that pops into his mind made for horrible messaging and his constant golfing trips made him a hypocrite after he criticized Obama for doing the same. Further, his children and son-in-law having positions in his Administration despite their liberal stances and lack of qualification (and in Kushner’s case, extreme shadiness) have caused unnecessary and easily foreseeable problems.
The nation has also endured numerous natural disasters including 3 horrific hurricanes. The last of which, Maria, laid waste to Puerto Rico and should have revealed the horrible way the PR government has wasted money on socialist programs instead of infrastructure, but instead became a rallying cry for race baiters like Ana Navarro to attack Trump, despite the excellent work by the military and FEMA in the recovery.
The hurricanes and wildfires also have fuel to the Left’s never-ending but evidence lacking belief in the religion of global cooling, uh… I mean global warming, uh… I mean climate change. The acolytes of this belief structure are never dissuaded by the lack of actual evidence, nor by the clergy’s unwillingness to live under the restrictions they would place on others (looking at you Al Gore and Leo DiCaprio).
America also had a new renewal of the gun control debate due to horrific mass shootings. The problem for the anti-2nd Amendment radicals is that the Sutherland Springs shootings was conducted by someone who shouldn’t have been able to buy guns but was because the government control liberals love so much failed. As for the Las Vegas shooting, the largest in American history, we bizarrely still don’t know what really happened or why, creating all kinds of conspiracy theories, but certainly not giving any credence to the gun control debate.
Finally, in perhaps the least surprising revelation in history, it came to (official) light that both Hollywood and DC are filled with sexual assaulters and that everyone knew it but didn’t say anything. In the case of Hollywood it was also filled with women (and some men) who went along with it to get ahead, but then want to act like any other victim once it all came out. Actresses like Ashley Judd kept their silence on men like Harvey Weinstein even while they had the audacity to complain about the accusations against Donald Trump.
This circus culminated with the special election in Alabama between accused assaulter of underage girls Roy Moore and supporter of late-term abortions Doug Jones.
All of this, plus the tendency of Democratic Congresswomen like Maxine Waters, Frederica Wilson, and Sheila Jackson Lee to make asses of themselves in preparation for a Kamala Harris nomination in 2020 as I wrote about weeks ago, had 2017 making 2016 looking sane.
I don’t pretend to know all of the insanity that will come in the new year, but with the midterm elections and all of the craziness 2017 has started I know this:
2016 said: “I’m the worst year ever.”
2017 said: “Watch this!”
2018 is going to say: “Hold my beer.”
Covid variant BA.5 is spreading. It appears milder but much more contagious and evades natural immunity. Best to boost your immune system with new Z-Dtox and Z-Stack nutraceuticals from our dear friend, the late Dr. Vladimir Zelenko.
The author is hardly the last word on reality. It looks like you want to see reality from a very narrow point of view. The evidence is actually overwhelming that humans warmed the planet. Denial chooses to dismiss what they aren’t ready to deal with. The evidence for human based warming is about 95% to 99% in. Time to get with reality.
