Intelligence agents have “assets.” These are people an intelligence agent uses in some manner. Sometimes they’re valuable assets that must be protected. Other times, their fate is irrelevant to the intelligence officer as long as they get what they want out of them.
Former director of national intelligence James Clapper thinks President Trump is Vladimir Putin’s asset. Clapper said he was saying it figuratively, but he clearly thinks the President is being played. There’s nothing figurative about that.

Appearing on CNN’s The Lead with Jake Tapper Monday, former Obama Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, whose legacy is lying under oath to Congress about the Obama Regime’s unconstitutional spying on American citizens, told fill-in host Jim Sciutto that American President Donald Trump is somehow an intelligence “asset” of Russia leader Vladimir Putin’s.
It was a statement by the truth-challenged Obama spy ring leader that was so ridiculous even Sciutto (an Obama operative in his own right) was taken aback:
