I was wrong. Roy Moore lost the Senate election in Alabama to a radical Marxist. Yes, I said Marxist. It’s time to call the Democrats what they’ve become. And this happened in a state that went for Trump by almost thirty points. We have to ask “Why?”
Recently I asked if Mitch McConnell was the Republican Harvey Weinstein. It has become clear that he is. Let’s break it down.
When Jeff Sessions took the job of Attorney General, he created a vacant Senate seat from Alabama. Corrupt Governor, now convict, Robert Bentley appointed similarly corrupt Luther Strange to the vacant seat. But there was a catch. There would be a special election so the people of Alabama could choose the real Senator.
Three candidates ran with an “R” by their name: Luther Strange, Roy Moore, and Mo Brooks. Moore and Brooks were solidly pro-Trump. Brooks also had a strong record in Congress with the Freedom Caucus. But Mitch McConnell backed swamp creature Luther Strange. Because Brooks was a solid candidate with strong Freedom credentials, Mitch focused his fire on him. Four million dollars slandered Brooks enough that Moore beat him in the first round. But Mitch couldn’t beat Moore in the runoff, and that was just too much for him.
We have to pause to ask why President Trump supported Strange in the primary. I believe the answer is simple. Trump has to work with McConnell. In order to get deals done, you have to have a deal-maker willing to work with you. Trump worked with Pelosi and Schumer to get a debt limit deal when McConnell couldn’t produce. But since then the Marxists in the Senate have chosen to be pure opponents, leaving Trump with no other choice. He sang along with Mitch in the hope that he might be able to come through on SOMETHING. Fat chance of that happening now!
Mitch refused to support Moore because Moore was totally pro-Trump and had already declared his opposition to McConnell’s leadership. In fact, when the fraudulent allegations of sexual misconduct came out against Moore, McConnell almost gleefully declared that Moore ought to withdraw from the race. He was joined by House Speaker Paul Ryan and at the last minute, Alabama’s senior senator, Richard Shelby declared that he could not “in good conscience” vote for Roy Moore. Translation: “I, Richard Shelby, am a vacuous fraud.”
All of the swamp joined the slander against Moore. They had an out, but refused to take it. They could get Strange to resign before the special election and have Governor Kay Ivey appoint another placeholder. But that person was likely to be Mo Brooks, and McConnell couldn’t have that. In fact, he’s already working to try to knock Brooks out of the House by primarying him next year. So much for Ronald Reagan’s eleventh commandment: “Thou shalt not speak ill of another Republican.”
All of this corrupt intrigue tells us one thing, and it shouts it in words as loud as a jet’s roar. Mitch McConnell is a corrupt swamp creature who works with our President ONLY when is suits Mitch’s personal purposes. Mitch likes being in his high chair, with the power to tell people what bills they can bring up. And he has almost zero regard for getting anything done to help America.
Let us remember what America is. America is first and foremost the idea that you can invest yourself in improving your life, and your work will not be stolen by the government. But Mitch is happy with high taxes. What happened to the “massive tax cuts” that would fuel growth? Personal rates in the Senate bill don’t go down. And there’s a bubble tax that punishes anyone who makes over a million dollars a year.
Sure, Mitch is starting to accelerate Trump’s nominees over Democrat obstruction, but he doesn’t see them as making much difference. He’s pushing Trump’s judges, but again, those aren’t likely to make a big difference while Mitch is alive. In short, he’s helping where it doesn’t affect his cozy relationship with Marxist Chucky Schumer. Mitch would rather have his pool lounger in the swamp than actually do something for America.
What’s the underlying problem? It’s really very simple. The Republican Party does not have any principles. Basically, “R” is “not D.” And that’s it. The Swamp doesn’t really care, because over time, government gets bigger, and that makes more places for swamp critters to live.
One specific item deserves our undivided attention. It’s the Tenth Amendment to the US Constitution. It states that “The Powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
Let’s translate this. First, the Federal Government is supposed to have ONLY the powers that are specifically delegated to it in the Constitution. Legally these are called “enumerated powers.” If we compare those very limited powers to the things it does today, almost everything the Federal Government does is unconstitutional. Where does the Constitution give it the power to rule over local and state schools? Where is the power to give stuff to people who won’t work for it? And what gives it the right to require you to buy insurance from a private company?
If “R” is to mean anything other than a seating chart, it needs to start by re-affirming the Tenth Amendment. But that would take away most of the Swamp’s power. So the Swamp resists the people. In fact, the “R” party ought to work to enact all of Mark Levin’s “Liberty Amendments,” starting with term limits and a balanced budget amendment. But that would restrict the Swamp, so no deal.
We don’t have a two-party system in this country. We have a three party system. They are the Marxist Democrats, the Swamp Republicans, and Americans. Americans are represented in Congress by the House Freedom Caucus and Senators like Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and Mike Lee. Americans are actually Federalists. We believe in the principles of limited government that made America great. And our President who is trying to Make America Great Again, is generally acting as a Federalist.
Donald Trump realizes he can’t get everything at once. The Marxist Swamp got its power over a century of malfeasance and judicial abdication. We need to either give the “R”s a spine with a set of principles, or set them adrift with an Article V Convention and officially become Federalists. No other choice remains.
Covid variant BA.5 is spreading. It appears milder but much more contagious and evades natural immunity. Best to boost your immune system with new Z-Dtox and Z-Stack nutraceuticals from our dear friend, the late Dr. Vladimir Zelenko.
Wow… so much wrong with this article. First, Trump is part of the swamp. He has done his share of attacking true conservatives, working with democrats, and threatening those do not swear fealty to him. He has obstructed justice and he has no regard for the Constitution. I see no indication that Trump is acting like a federalist.
Second, the Freedom Caucus is no more conservative than anyone else anymore. Need I point you to their support of the nomination of Ryan to the speakership, the bailing on principles during the several health care repeal attempts (only to be belittled by Trump prior to their vote). IMO, the Freedom Caucus, with the exception of a couple of members is done, toast, a non-entity.
Third, “Our president is trying to make America great again”. In what way? Sure he overturned a few executive orders, but he has done nothing to reduce regulation and taxes, and refuses to lead the party in a conservative direction. He only does some of the “good stuff” when he has to distract from some other disaster. Does that remind you of Bill Clinton? It should.
The only point this article is accurate on, is that we need to introduce federalism. The American people are not, sadly, federalists. As a whole, they only embrace federalism when their party is not in power. Right now the democrats are exercising federalism because they have a distaste for Trump. They don’t even know they are exercising federalism, and those tendencies will disappear once they gain at least one of the legislative houses.
Since when has NOQ Report started unabashedly shilling for Trump instead of promoting Federalism?
I too have noticed the shilling. Especially with Steve Berman’s articles (and to a less extent even with JD Rucker’s).
I’m having trouble finding a truly principled blog-site to read anymore as most have given into the Trump trolls & shills.
Too many so-called “conservatives” believe that it is possible to separate a person’s personality and character from his policies, believing that Trump can have “good” or “honorable” policies without himself daily exhibiting the characteristics of honor, character, leadership integrity or conservatism and standing up for those principles against the swamp.
I do agree with the headline to some extent (though perhaps not in the way the author intended. To whit: what constitutes an “R” seat ? Is it the McConnell Establishment wing of the party or the Conservative family and Christian-based principles enumerated in the Republican Party Platform ? Is it the Bannon alt-right wing of the party or the Turmpian big-government, idol-worshiping cult side ? We know that McConnell (as the face of the establishment is at war with the TEA Party & social conservatives (who believe in the Party Platform and want smaller, less-intrusive government), while Bannon is at war with McConnell and the alt-right (Bannon’s base) is at war with TEA Party & social conservatives conservatives. We know that Trump declared social conservatives unwanted in the Republican Party and that he neither needs nor wants our votes or support. We know that social conservatives disapprove of Trump for a variety of character flaws (character flaws that drive policy flaws and subvert our laws and foreign relationships) and we know that McConnell’s establishment Republicans are at war with Bannon’s alt-right anti-establishment, burn-it-all-down followers.
So I ask again. What does an “R” seat actually mean ? What does it stand for ?
For my part, I’m going to follow the Alabama voters’ lead and not support ANY of the Republican factions partly because Trump has kicked conservatives out of the party altogether, but also because I cannot support the alt-right Bannon, the establishment, meddling McConnell, or the crazed, Trump-worshipping faction that currently “controls” our nuclear arsenal and foreign policy.
But ff the federalists continue to field people like Steve Berman and (to a much lesser extent) JD Rucker, I won’t be able to support or vote for THEM either because I refuse to delude myself that a personality as flawed and as clearly in need of mental and psychological counseling as Trump should be praised for ANYTHING he promises until AFTER he makes good on his promise. To do otherwise and to praise Trump merely for correctly pronouncing the words of others during a speech or for a publicly popular tweet while he quietly contradicts his words with his actions only feeds Trump’s fantasies of competence and his narcissism.
As the author, I must note that it’s not possible to be exhaustive in presentations. That would allow a more full discussion, but would put people to sleep.
Trump is by no means pure. He’s a smash-mouth New Yorker who is also a deal-maker. To get things done you must work incrementally. And that’s what he does. But in arenas where he can work unilaterally, he does. Regulations are being axed at historic rates, contrary to one commenter. And he’s not ideological. He intuits what works and proceeds toward it. His intuitions are generally good. And, unlike virtually any politician before him, he actually works toward fulfilling his promises. I’d like more, but reality doesn’t care what I want.
Philosophically, I’m a libertarian. Federalism is the best expression of that philosophy in our current environment. The Libertarian Party is wasted because of its insistence on purity. They can only convince a handful. But large groups of people intuitively understand that Reagan was right when he said, “The ten worst words in the English language are ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help you.’ ” In short they’re small government people, and Federalists when they understand what it means.
“R” and “D” are simply short for party labels. “R” becomes a “D”, just 20 years later. Thus, we must have a radical change. The only real issue is how that comes about.
Ed and all the other self anointed cuckservatives gave us Barack Obama and would have given us President Hillary Clinton if we’d listened to them.
