Representative Trent Franks had shocking offers for female staffers. He wanted them to consider being surrogates. It’s unknown whether he wanted them to go through a clinical procedure or if it would require them to have sex with him, but either way they took offense, filed complaints, and forced him to resign once the stories came out. Now, Franks has decided to move his last day up from January 31st to today.
He cited health issues with his wife, who was admitted yesterday to the hospital for an ongoing medical issue.
One of the staffers he approached was allegedly offered $5 million to carry his child.
The House Ethics Committee announced Thursday evening that is investigating whether Franks engaged in conduct “that constitutes sexual harassment and/or retaliation for opposing sexual harassment.”
Franks is the third member of Congress to resign this week as Capitol Hill reckons with sexual misconduct by male lawmakers.
