There is no question that he will walk away with the most coveted individual award in college football, but ESPN is doing everything they can to convince us the award is still up in the air. Why? Because they want more than Mayfield’s friends and family to tune in on Saturday.
In this video, former NFL- and college-greats Desmond Howard and Charles Woodson make their “cases” for the other two finalists, Stanford running back Bryce Love and Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson who won last year. I get it. Ratings are important, especially since the politically polarizing network has seen dwindling subscriptions lately. Come on, though, guys. This isn’t even a question anymore.
