Ron Johnson on the paradox of tolerance

Senator Ron Johnson from Wisconsin gave a very sobering speech at the Newseum in Washington D.C. Monday. In it, he detailed the very serious issues we’re facing in society today, issues that are unique to our time and that require us to reexamine how we handle certain situations. Specifically, he called it all a “paradox of tolerance.”

“America is a very tolerant society, we value that … but in this new era, in this new phase, with this new threat to national security, we really need to ask ourselves very serious questions,.”

Ron Johnson: Our tolerant society is facing a ‘paradox’ in this terror threat

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/ron-johnson-our-tolerant-society-is-facing-a-paradox-in-this-terror-threat/article/2640564“America is a very tolerant society, we value that … but in this new era, in this new phase, with this new threat to national security, we really need to ask ourselves very serious questions,” Johnson said at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. “How much can we really tolerate? Understanding that paradox of tolerance — if we tolerate too much, our tolerance itself will be ended.”

Johnson said the U.S. must be “relentless” in the pursuit of stopping extremists, even after heavy territory losses from the so-called Islamic State.
