This was supposed to be the great debunker. Releasing the JFK files as mandated by law 25 years ago should have put an end to 54 years of speculation, lingering questions, and conspiracy theories. Instead, it’s only made things worse because President Trump “had no choice” but to keep a good chunk of the documents back.
In a memo Thursday night, the President declared there would be “potentially irreversible harm to our nation’s security” if all the records were released. Wow. For things that happened 54 years ago to still pose such a threat to national security tells every JFK conspiracy theorist that they’re onto something even if most of them are not. It doesn’t matter what their theory is. If the documents still can’t be released, that points to a cover-up and what good conspiracy theory doesn’t include a massive cover-up?
The JFK Assassination Records Collection Act is clear documents can’t be held back for the sake of preventing embarrassment or protecting guilty parties. The only ways a president is allowed to continue postponement is through the presence of “an identifiable harm to the military defense; intelligence operations, law enforcement, or conduct of foreign relations.” Moreover, it uses strong terms to note “only in the rarest cases is there any legitimate need for continued protection of such records.”
The President called for department and agency heads to be “extremely circumspect in recommending any further postponement of full disclosure of records” beyond the 180 days he has given them. Judging by his past Tweets on the subject and the tone of his memo, it’s pretty obvious he’s unhappy about not releasing the documents in full. The wording also makes it appear is though he was surprised to find out he should hold back so many pieces of information.
On Friday, WikiLeaks offered $100,000 for the still withheld documents. On Twitter, the organization’s founder, Julian Assange, polled followers over President Trump’s about-face.

I don’t know what’s in the remaining pages. I’m not a conspiracy theorist. I will admit, however, that this hold on releasing documents is awfully suspicious. What in the world can be so bad that even President Trump is concerned? The more specific question: What do the CIA and FBI have to hide?
JFK assassination records: The promise of revelations derailed by CIA and FBI
Early Friday morning, the president tweeted assurances to those infuriated by the delay that he wants to disclose as much as possible: “JFK Files are being carefully released. In the end there will be great transparency. It is my hope to get just about every thing to the public!”
Trump followed up that message Friday evening with another tweet, saying, “After strict consultation with General Kelly, the CIA and other Agencies, I will be releasing ALL JFK files other than the names and addresses of any mentioned person who is still living. I am doing this for reasons of full disclosure, transparency and in order to put any and all conspiracy theories to rest.”
They’re Trying to Shut Us Down
Over the last several months, I’ve lost count of how many times the powers-that-be have tried to shut us down. They’ve sent hackers at us, forcing us to take extreme measures on web security. They sent attorneys after us, but thankfully we’re not easily intimidated by baseless accusations or threats. They’ve even gone so far as to make physical threats. Those can actually be a bit worrisome but Remington has me covered.
For us to continue to deliver the truth that Americans need to read and hear, we ask you, our amazing audience, for financial assistance. We have a Giving Fuel page to help us pay the bills. It’s brand new so don’t be discouraged by the lack of donations there. It’s a funny reality that the fewer the donations that have been made, the less likely people are willing to donate to it. One would think this is counterintuitive, but sometimes people are skeptical because they think that perhaps there’s a reason others haven’t been donating. In our situation, we’re just getting started so please don’t be shy if you have the means to help.
Thank you and God bless!
