In spite of socialism failing in South American countries like Venezuela and Brazil, our popular mainstream media in America never gives up on its quest to promote socialism and big government that “takes care of its people.” The continent of Europe is still the media’s best hope in “fundamentally transforming America” into a socialist paradise.
Why Denmark is considered one of the happiest places in the world – TODAY.com
National Geographic’s Dan Buettner travelled to Copenhagen to learn the characteristics of why Denmark is one of the world’s happiest places.
The media narrative
On a recent broadcast of NBC’s Today show, correspondent Cynthia McFadden along with Dan Buettner from National Geographic magazine did a bicycle tour of Denmark’s capital city of Copenhagen. They claim that the country of Denmark is the “happiest place on Earth.” Sure they pay high taxes (58 percent to 72 percent of income), but you know that is a good price for a government that truly does take care of its people. According to Buettner; “Mothers don’t have to worry so much about child care. In Denmark, you get a year off….Every Dane is born with the right to free health care, free education through college, comfortable retirement. They’re free to pursue a job that meets their passions and their interests.”
‘You see, right wing middle Americans, your wrong about the ideal of our vision of equality and fairness,’ says the progressives who run our media and then some. ‘Look to Denmark and the other Scandinavia nations. Everybody is middle class and truly equal and it’s all good. They got socialism right, and it’s really working.’
Or did they?
The truth
Kyle Smith of the New York Post wrote a story about a different side of Denmark that McFadden and Buettner don’t want you to see, or they can’t see for themselves. Smith brings up a book that was written by British born and a immigrant to Denmark Michael Booth called, “The Almost Nearly Perfect People: Behind the Myth of the Scandinavian Utopia.” Remember one thing about the macro culture. What may be the macro culture of America is not the same as Japan, the UK, Russia, Brazil, Venezuela, and certainly Denmark. Just because they “say” they are happy does not mean they are honestly happy. It’s like the term ‘As You Wish’ as used in the classic movie “The Princess Bride” in which ‘As You Wish’ really means; “I Love You.”

Want proof that the liberal social-democratic society works? It’s also notable for having the highest taxes on Earth, plus a comfy social safety net: Child care is mostly free, as is public school and even private school, and you can stay on unemployment benefits for a long time. Everyone is on an equal footing, both income-wise and socially: Go to a party and you wouldn’t be surprised to see a TV star talking to a roofer.
Happy, happy, happy
It seems that being unhappy is frowned upon in Denmark. You must be happy and be content that your government is taking care of you. ‘Sure we as a country might impose high taxes on you Danes (as the citizens of Denmark are called) but look at how we have turned out as a people and a country. You put your trust in us, the government of Denmark. If you dare question us, you will be made to care.’
Buying a book is a luxury item in Denmark, and I don’t have to tell you the health care stories either in which going to the government monopoly pharmacies is no different than getting your drivers licence.
So happy, they could die
The other Scandinavian nations are no better. While Finland is the least corrupt nation; it also ranks high on alcoholism and murder (highest in western Europe), suicide and use of antidepressant drugs. In Sweden, men have been emasculated, and allows immigrants to take advantage of its welfare state (sound familiar?), and with these low income people coming in to Sweden, so does the crime rate in that respected country.
The Scandinavian people have been conditioned not to revolt against their respective governments, coupled with the overall culture and political will; it forces people to conform to their culture and to never question it. These Scandinavian governments has got their people where they want them, and they are drunk with power. That flies in the face of American exceptionalism hands downs, but our socialist-loving media in America could care less.
So before you go along with the Today show’s support of socialist Denmark, you should read the New York Post piece on the dark side of Denmark and other nations in the Scandinavian region and either buy or see if Booth’s book on Scandinavia is available at your local library.
