There’s nothing that warms the heart of the liberal press, and brings that thrill up their leg again, than fantasizing about President Trump’s impeachment. They grab their chicken bones and rat entrails, and look into 2018, hoping for a miraculous takeover of the House and Senate, so they can re-enact Watergate, and usher in a thousand-year reich Democrat party rule.
Tennessee Democrat Rep. Steve Cohen gushed on MSNBC that Republicans could be persuaded to vote for impeachment. CNN wishcasted that 2018 could be the year. They all jumped on Ted Cruz’s “bloodbath” remark as a harbinger of their victory (because the press and the Democrats are really one organization).
One of the lone, “wait, what?” moments from these bloodlusted liberals came from Jane Meyer at The New Yorker, who warned of “the Danger of President Pence.” But the headline mischaracterizes the piece itself, which is rally a dagger aimed to create a fissure between Trump and Pence, and stir up (they hope) some brouhaha between the two. Meyer tied Pence to the Kochs in various ways, and offered all kinds of barbs to show how Pence and Trump are “on different wavelengths.”
Here’s her takeaway.
Many Americans have debated whether the country would be better off with Pence as President. From a purely partisan viewpoint, Harold Ickes, a longtime Democratic operative, argues that—putting aside the fear that Trump might start a nuclear war—“Democrats should hope Trump stays in office,” because he makes a better foil, and because Pence might work more effectively with Congress and be more successful at advancing the far right’s agenda.
For all the “we’d rather have Trump,” they certainly like talking about his removal.
Perspectives
The Danger of President Pence | The New Yorker
The previous day, President Trump had dined with Democratic leaders at the White House, and had impetuously agreed to a major policy reversal, granting provisional residency to undocumented immigrants who came to America as children. The worse the President looks, the more desirable his understudy seems. The more Trump is mired in scandal, the more likely Pence’s elevation to the Oval Office becomes, unless he ends up legally entangled as well.
Would Any Republican Consider Impeaching Trump? This Democrat Lawmaker Says “Yes”
I’m not going to play the guessing game, here. Cohen goes on to suggest that his Republican colleagues, even if they don’t specifically say the word, “impeach,” you can see it in their expressions and hear it in their words that they’d like to see Trump gone. “But, the Republican base is still supportive of Trump.

GOP donors hearing new warnings about impeachment | TheHill
It’s just one example of Republicans highlighting growing worries about the possibility that Trump could face impeachment. Three Democrats already have filed articles of impeachment against him. It also makes sense for Republicans to warn their donors of the possibility as they seek to fundraise in advance of the midterm elections. Democrats would need to gain 24 seats to take back the House, a high bar but one that isn’t completely out of reach.

Final Thoughts
All of this is raw speculation on the part of a media in a frenzy and echo chamber to rehash over and over again. The actual probability of a Trump impeachment, in any election scenario, is exceedingly small. Even The New Yorker article acknowledged this.
I say, let the liberals fantasize. It sells magazines for them, so it’s good for the economy, and not much else.
