Vice President Mike Pence was in attendance for the Colts-49ers’ game… for a very short time. After 20+ 49ers knelt during the National Anthem, the Vice President Tweeted that he had left the game. No Colts knelt.
The day started off with the Vice President Tweeting a picture of himself at the game wearing a Colts hat and looking forward to talking to Peyton Manning, the long-time Colts quarterback who had his jersey retired today.

After the National Anthem played and the 49ers players knelt, the Vice President left the game, sent out several Tweets, and released a statement. In it, he declared he and the President would not dignify an event that disrespects our soldiers, Flag, or the National Anthem.

The NFL has been suffering with an image problem ever since players started kneeling during the National Anthem last season. Their problems were brought into the national conversation when President Trump attacked the players who were kneeling and the teams allowing it.
