For years, Bud Light has been the official beer of the NFL. The deal between parent company Anheuser-Busch InBev and the National Football League is lucrative to the tune of around $250 million per year and is signed through the 2022 season. That could change. You can help.
In light of recent controversies surrounding players in the league protesting during the National Anthem, Budweiser has put out a hotline that fans can use to express their opinions. To let them know what you think, call 1-800-342-5283 (DIAL-BUD).
With a company as big as Budweiser, a brand as popular as the NFL’s, and a controversy that has the attention of millions of Americans, including the President, one would think the company would have offered multiple ways for people to express their opinions. This is 2017, after all. Instead, Budweiser created a bottleneck that came crashing down on Friday when lines went dead. They were back up by Sunday.
Calling the number leads to a recorded message. Apparently, they’ve been getting lots of calls because the first option is to press #1 for questions or comments about their sponsorship of the NFL. Doing so takes callers to this message:
“At Anheuser-Busch we have a long heritage of supporting the nation’s armed forces, veterans and military dependents. The national anthem is a point of pride for our company and for the 1,100 veterans that we employ. Please feel free to share your feedback after the tone.”
Whether this was a proactive attempt to hear the concerns of fans or a response to a flurry of calls over the last couple of weeks is unknown, nor do we know who actually listens to the messages. It’s unlikely the company would pull sponsorship, but if the numbers keep dipping for the NFL, they may have grounds to renegotiate.

Anheuser Busch’s consumer help line disrupted after NFL protest | FOX2now.com
A post to the “RockIt News” Facebook page has generated several hundred likes and shares. It is one of many Facebook posts that recently feature a request for activists to call the consumer help line. The RockItNews post says, “Should Budweiser keep sponsoring the NFL? Let them know how you feel! Call 1-800-DIAL BUD (342-5283) and press 1 for their stand on the NFL and then leave a message. Takes less than a minute.”

These are complex issues that require in-depth discussions and nuanced debate. What I can say is that at Anheuser-Busch we have a long heritage of supporting the institutions and values that have made America so strong. That includes our armed forces and the national anthem as well as diversity, equality and freedom of speech. We proudly employ over 1,100 military veterans and we work every day to create an inclusive environment for all of our employees. Because only together can we achieve our dream of bringing people together for a better world.

As a daughter of a Vietnam vet and a sister to a desert storm vet… I stand for the flag. I understand people have the right to stand or kneel, but what are you kneeling for? If u want to make change, do it off the field! Get out into the community.. take the milllions you make and give to the community! If I had the choice, I would not even show the players on TV, don’t publicize their kneeling! But as an American I feel it’s wrong to sit and disrespect our country by kneeling!
I have thrown out ALL Anheuser Busch products from my fridges. I will not longer drink any beverage that is owned by them. This buds for you? Hardly! You have shown by YOUR INACTION that you support these disrespectful dirt balls.
August I’m with you already did I hope 10 million people do the same
