Did Obama funnel HUD settlement ‘slush fund’ cash to Trump resistance?

Published

A stunning accusation has been made Monday by a taxpayer watchdog organization. Cause of Action Institute maintains that the Obama administration used money received from mortgage settlements with big banks and improperly funneled it to “dozens of Democratic activist groups who were not even victims of the crisis.”

Wow.

It’s not totally unbelievable. In fact, it’s quite plausible given the Obama administration’s penchant for making settlements with corporations that include various “donations” to groups like La Raza, Urban League or the National Community Reinvestment Coalition.

The New York Post broke the story over the weekend.

“During the Obama administration, groups committed to ‘revolutionary social change’ sent proposals and met with high-level HUD and Justice Department officials to try to get their pieces of the settlement pie,” Cause of Action Institute vice president Julie Smith told The Post.

Hogs at the trough of nearly-unaccountable corporate settlement money. Who would have thought?

How Obama is funding the anti-Trump resistance | New York Post

http://nypost.com/2017/09/23/how-obama-is-funding-the-anti-trump-resistance/At least three liberal nonprofit organizations the Justice Department approved to receive funds from multibillion-dollar mortgage settlements were instrumental in killing the ObamaCare repeal bill and are now lobbying against GOP tax reform, as well as efforts to rein in illegal immigration.

An estimated $640 million has been diverted into what critics say is an improper, if not unconstitutional, “slush fund” fed from government settlements with JPMorgan Chase and Co., Citigroup Inc. and Bank of America Corp., according to congressional sources.

Obama Accused of ‘Funding’ Anti-Trump Resistance | LawNewz

https://lawnewz.com/high-profile/__trashed-9/One of those organizations is UnidosUS, formerly known as the National Council of La Raza. UnidosUS is a Latinx advocacy group which was founded in 1968. According to their website, “UnidosUS advocates for Latinos in the areas of civic engagement, civil rights and immigration, education, workforce and the economy, health, and housing.”

Sperry refers to UnidosUS with the shorthand version of their former moniker. He claims “La Raza” is a “radical organization” with a storied “history of promoting illegal immigration and advocating for welfare benefits and even driver’s licenses for undocumented Latino immigrants.”

UnidosUS advocated against the repeal of Obamacare and is opposed to Trump’s deportation regime and proposed border wall. The organization also works closely with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. According to Sperry, UnidosUS has received at least $1.5 million from the mortgage settlement funds.

MONEY MEN: Taxpayer Watchdog Group Claims Obama Administration Funded The Anti-Trump Resistance | Daily Wire

La Raza has also been fighting what they call an “immoral border wall,” and was one of several groups to send protesters to a Trump campaign rally in Chicago that turned violent.

The National Urban League has used its $2 million to help fund efforts against an Obamacare repeal, while the National Community Reinvestment Coalition has used their $2.6 million to oppose tax reform — and necessary privatization and regulation of government lending, which could help prevent another mortgage crisis.

Final Thoughts

As much as the Trump administration gets itself into deep holes through its missteps and inexperience, the Obama administration did everything with a very considered approach. They looked at the Constitution not as a guiding principle or founding document, but as an impediment to be overcome to achieve their goals.

It would not surprise me in the least to find out that millions of dollars were funneled to liberal organizations, through corporate settlements, slush funds, and other arm-twisting. This money was and is being used to fund protests, organized resistance, media, and even violent Antifa thugs.

Perhaps Congress should spend its time investigating where the money went and who has it now. Perhaps the Department of Justice should examine if the Obama administration had made itself a conspirator in various acts. And perhaps some of these would be on the wrong side of the law.

None of this surprises me, and that’s very troubling.
