Bernie Sanders, who wants to take America down the path of Venezuela-style socialism, wrote this in 2011:

These days, the American dream is more apt to be realized in South America, in places such as Ecuador, Venezuela and Argentina, where incomes are actually more equal today than they are in the land of Horatio Alger. Who’s the banana republic now?

It really did not age well, because the banana republic is exactly where everyone knew it would be, especially in Venezuela.

This is the person so many on the left are counting on to usher us into a new age of prosperity and free health care for everyone.
