There has been a terror attack in Parsons Green, part of the heart of London, England. Initial reports from local sources say that it was a “homemade bomb” used to carry out the attacks. There have been at least two dozen injuries from the bombing and subsequent stampede, but no fatalities have been reported.
Scotland Yard declared it a terror incident. Prime Minister Theresa May will be meeting with the Cobra emergencies committee to discuss the attack.

The improvised explosive device detonated on the London Underground train at Parsons Green during rush hour when the service would have been at its busiest.

Photos taken inside a District Line train show a white plastic bucket inside a supermarket shopping bag. Flames and what appear to be wires can be seen. London ambulance services said they had sent multiple crews to the Parsons Green station, and police advised people to avoid the area in southwest London.

“We were called at 08:20 BST to reports of an incident at Parsons Green underground station. We have sent multiple resources to the scene including single responders in cars, ambulance crews, incident response officers and our hazardous area response team, with the first of our medics arriving in under five minutes. Our initial priority is to assess the level and nature of injuries. More information will follow when we have it.”

London’s transit system was the target of a series of coordinated suicide bombings on July 7, 2005. Often referred to as “7/7,” the attacks during the morning rush hour killed 52 people and seriously wounded hundreds.

Final Thoughts
Terrorism is becoming more prominent in western society. It’s important that we stay diligent and remain aware of our surroundings in public.
