While the GOP misses with millennials, the Federalist message is right on target

Published

on

It’s no surprise that the Federalist Party is getting a ton of new members who feel the GOP has left them. What may be surprising is that a good number of the ones we’re seeing make the switch are millennials.

When we first started down the road of forming a new party, the majority of early adopters were over 35-years-old. Our message of reining in DC, defending freedoms, and protecting life were once associated with the Republican Party, but over the last few years it’s become more apparent that the party only invoked these ideas when they were campaigning. We knew we needed to craft a strong message to appeal to the younger generation. What we didn’t anticipate is that the message that resonated with long-time Republicans would also hit the mark with younger voters.

Today, nearly half of our new members are millennials.

According to Kristen Soltis Anderson, this isn’t the same old shift away from the GOP:

It’s been reported often and for many years that Republicans are losing younger people, but what is most shocking about the Pew study is the narrow window in which this wave of defections occurred. In the relatively short time frame of December 2015 to March 2017, nearly half of all young Republicans left their party at some point, with roughly a quarter bidding the GOP adieu for good.

No other group, by age or party, wavered so much or defected in such substantial numbers.

The Federalist Party represents a promise that the GOP has always made. The difference is that Republican leaders in recent years have debunked themselves by failing to keep these promises. They say things in opposition to Democrats during campaign season, then embrace big government ideas when they’re given control. Young (and old) people who want laser-focus on shrinking government are joining the Federalist Party en masse.

To understand why this is the case, we have to put aside certain stereotypes. Media is quick to point out when college students protest conservative speakers, but they hide the fact that there’s a strong counter-insurgency of small-government-minded students. They might not riot. They may have more respect for free speech than their left-wing counterparts, but their numbers are strong and their passions are often stronger. Moreover, the angst that many millennials are feeling stems from an emerging understanding that the federal government causes many of the problems they claim to fix. The internet and social media have allowed failures and political debacles to take on lives of their own. The realization that we need less government is why people like Ron Paul, Ted Cruz, and Ben Sasse have been so appealing to millennials.

Most Americans, when presented with the facts, can come to the conclusion that less interference from the federal government yields much better results. It’s nearly universal; returning power to the states, communities, and individuals solves problems much better than relying on overarching mandates, cumbersome regulations, and offensive laws decreed by DC. The rise of the Federalist Party is coming at the exact right moment in history.

Coca-Cola Ford and Xerox tell Planned Parenthood to remove their names from donor list

Supporting Planned Parenthood has been a badge of honor for many companies over the years, but recent revelations about selling murdered preborn baby parts and other bad press have made the abortion giant no longer a good association for many American companies. Notable large corporations including Coca-Cola, Ford, and Xerox have asked Planned Parenthood to remove their names from their published list of donors.

Planned Parenthood responded by removing the list of 41 corporations altogether.

But it isn’t just embarrassment that prompted the desire for removal. As it turns out, many of the companies on the list stopped donating to Planned Parenthood long ago.

“We checked our files for the last 20 years and have no record of Xerox Corp. contributing to Planned Parenthood,” a representative from Xerox told The Daily Signal.

Opinion

As I’ve said many times, fighting abortion cannot be one-sided. We can’t just focus on the political side of the battle and expect to win if we don’t first win the cultural battle. By highlighting the hideous activities of abortion providers like Planned Parenthood, we weaken their ability to spread their heinous message of death.

This is a huge win that won’t get much coverage. The left doesn’t want anyone to know there’s a large amount of disgust being sent towards Planned Parenthood and not just from ardent pro-life activists. The American people are finally becoming enlightened about the reality of life at conception, the pain felt by preborn babies, and the awful tactics used by Planned Parenthood and their allies.

We need to keep up the pressure. We have truth on our side.

Quote

“Republicans are trying to ban women who receive Medicaid from getting care at Planned Parenthood. I’m sick & tired of these relentless attacks on Americans’ access to health care. My colleagues & I have joined a legal brief to support women’s access to Planned Parenthood.” – Kamala Harris

Final Thoughts

It’s telling that companies who were once proud to be supporters of Planned Parenthood are now hiding their contributions. This is a victory for the cultural side of the battle against abortion.

Sign the petition demanding an investigation of the investigators

Now that Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian hacking of the 2016 election has been completed and the investigation’s report has been released, we have more questions than we have answers.

Why was it started in the first place? It seems circular reasoning and opposition research were the only pieces of “evidence” used to justify extensive spying on the Trump campaign and the subsequent investigation. This does not clear the threshold of viable suspicion necessary for FISA warrants and clearly was not an appropriate starting point upon which to launch an investigation.

Why was it allowed to continue for so long? The report indicates early on, the investigation saw it was extremely unlikely they would find evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians. Moreover, the report demonstrates the Russians were acting of their own accord to “hack” the elections, but were unsuccessful in generating enough manipulative propaganda to sway a significant chunk of voters.

Were political motivations at play? At this point, the answer seems obvious. From President Obama’s administration to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign to left-leaning elements within the FBI itself, it’s conspicuous that attempts to not only manufacture wrongdoing by candidate Trump but also to hide wrongdoing by candidate Clinton were in full effect.

Two years and $30 million in taxpayer dollars should have yielded answers. It did not. The reason isn’t that there were no answers to be found. It’s that they were looking in the wrong places. It’s time to look in the right places. Sign this petition.

Illegal alien continued assaulting border patrol agent even as they tumbled down a hill

Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents arrested a 37-year-old Ecuadorian national after he assaulted an agent atop a mountain south of Tucson Wednesday evening. The man continued punching and kicking the agent even as they slid down the hillside.

He was subdued only after additional agents came to restrain him.

Two Mexican nationals traveling with him were also arrested during the incident.

Opinion

We’ve all seen the sad images and videos on mainstream media of helpless mothers with three children trying desperately to get to the United States where they will certainly become productive and patriotic members of society. That’s the image the left wants embedded in our brains, but it’s not the reality at the border.

Yes, there are large groups of migrants coming over nonstop with hopes of taking their piece of the taxpayer-funded pie. But there are also criminals coming over who will do anything, including harm or kill border patrol agents, if that’s what it takes for them to stake their claim to what they want from America and Americans.

There are dangers at the border that rarely get reported. These brave border patrol agents need a wall, more men, better technology, and more facilities to house those coming over. They need these things now, but Democrats continue to demand they try to secure our borders with both hands tied behind their backs. If one were conspiracy-minded, one might think the Democrats are doing it on purpose so more illegal immigrants will come into our country.

Hmm.

“Assaults highlight safety concerns for agents who often encounter and arrest multiple subjects in remote and isolated locations in rugged terrain.” – CBP Statement

Final Thoughts

The image of helpless migrants carrying little babies and peacefully surrendering to border patrol is only part of the picture. Border patrol agents are put in harms way daily, yet Democrats will not give them the resources they need.
