At first glance, the all-new Honda Passport looks like a shorter Honda Pilot. That’s because essentially, it is. This will make it a highly sought-after vehicle this year because it will have most of the amenities of the Pilot without being the huge vehicle that many people are shying away from lately.
It’s shorter, but it has the same wheelbase as the Pilot, making it an extremely roomy ride. It’s also higher off the ground, which despite not having 4×4 capabilities, will allow it to perform well on the dirt. It will have an all-wheel-drive option.
In this video by Micah Muzio at KBB, they take a look at everything about the new Passport without actually driving it. Granted, it’s not an ideal way of being introduced, but it’s what we have right now.
My Take
The world always needs another high-quality mid-sized SUV to combat the growing trend of lower-quality ones that are trying to compete for value against smaller SUVs while still having a bit oft he big-SUV feel. For that purpose, the Passport may be perfect.
I’ll admit, I’m a Honda guy so I already have strong trust for the vehicle before it gets a test drive. It’s absolutely gorgeous on the outside and boasts the same basic interior as the Pilot, a nice change from other companies that make their mid-sized SUVs feel more like their smaller SUVs inside.
I’ll get behind the wheel of a new Passport when they come out. In the meantime, this quick glimpse is the best we can do.
