U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley is pushing the first ever United Nations resolution condemning Islamic terrorist organization Hamas. On the same day, the General Assembly adopted six resolutions against Israel.
Chances of passing the Hamas resolution are practically non-existent despite the 28-member EU agreeing to back it. A majority of the 193 members of the General Assembly have to vote for it to pass. It is almost certain a large majority of nations would never cross Hamas despite their track record of firing rockets into Israel, inciting violence, and taking resources intended for their impoverished people and using them in their terrorist efforts.
UN to vote Thursday on US text condemning Hamas for its rocket fire at Israel | The Times of Israel
“The issue before the United Nations on Thursday is not whether it supports one form or another of a Middle East peace plan,” the US mission said.
“Each country will be asked to vote for or against the activities of Hamas, along with other militant groups like Palestinian Islamic Jihad.”
“If the UN cannot bring itself to adopt this resolution, then it has no business being involved in peace discussions,” it added.
My Take
This is definitely newsworthy, but a search on Google for “Nikki Haley Hamas” reveals only a handful of domestic news outlets have reported on it. The bias against Israel has always been present, but it seems as though mainstream media has turned to ignoring moves in favor of Israel even when it involves the United States directly.
Hamas is a terrorist organization and Israel is our only true ally in the Middle East. It is inexcusable for mainstream media to pretend like this unprecedented action never happened. We’ll see if they cover it Thursday when the biased UN shoots it down.
