Far-left progressive ideas often sound good on the surface. They pull at our heartstrings and fill us with hope, but it’s always a false hope that has a price tag they never discuss until it’s too late. When the money comes due, they find some creative way to siphon the money from the people and in most circumstances, the people don’t blink. Philippe and Macron are facing criticism from rivals across the politic spectrum over their handling of the crisis.
Socialist leader Olivier Faure urged Philippe to drop the tax hikes and to restore a wealth tax that was slashed by the centrist government.
“We want a change in the method. One needs to come down Mount Olympus,” Faure said, referring to Macron’s Greek god nickname Jupiter.
This makes a quote by Macron pertinent today.
“I am not just a liberal movement. I come from the progressive Left. I am trying to refresh and counter the system.”
