Millions of Americans believe Russia influenced the 2016 elections. While most don’t even understand what is meant when politicians and media types refer to election “hacking,” they are still convinced Russia played some role the outcome.
It doesn’t matter what the President says. It doesn’t matter what Fox News says. All they care about is they feel like something must have happened or else Hillary Clinton would have won. That’s their story and they’re sticking to it.
Unfortunately for them, it’s been two years. There seems to have been progress made, but very little of it has to do with Russia. Most of it seems to surround unrelated crimes perpetrated by people close to the President, but nothing has been able to tie President Trump to the C-word: collusion.
Tucker Carlson opened his show last night by point that out.
“After two long years of the most expensive and wide-ranging independent counsel investigation in a generation, we should be close to nabbing those dastardly secret agents from Russia who hacked our presidential election. Are we? No we’re not.”
Did Russia try to influence the election? Absolutely. Did they succeed? Not really. It’s hard to demonstrate any votes swayed by their efforts. Most importantly, there hasn’t been a connection made to the President. Not one.
