Claire McCaskill is finally out as Josh Hawley pulls the upset

One of the most annoying Democrats to ever sit in the Senate is finally done. Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) has been defeated by Republican Josh Hawley

The Lexington, Missouri native and 42nd Attorney General of Missouri hasn’t had much time in his current role after taking office in 2017. But the potential of unseating McCaskill simply held too much allure for Hawley to ignore.

Following disastrous undercover videos from Project Veritas and a poor choice to vote against Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court, McCaskill went from a solid seat to extremely vulnerable in under two months. She painted herself as a moderate but her actions revealed the leftist she really is.

But more than McCaskill’s mistakes, Hawley ran a near-flawless campaign and struck gold with a single narrative: Claire McCaskill is Hillary Clinton. He hammered this point home. He didn’t say she was like Hillary. He didn’t say she supported Hillary. He said she is Hillary.

It worked.

Hawley, a youthful moderate, has embraced President Trump’s style and priorities over the last three months. Will he continue to be one of the President’s favorites when he’s in McCaskill’s old seat? We’ll soon find out.
